When Club Secuity Is Cheap Security
( Savannah, GA. ): Security professionals, especially the entertainment variety, have to contend with grossly unsuited, grossly underpaid bouncers who make the rest of them look bad. The same complaint comes to mind regarding uniformed professionals laboring against the " rent-a-cop " stigma afflicting that segment of the industry.
I recently ended a club contract because the owner and his nephew, the manager, confused us with sanitation workers, a profession I value highly, but not when someone wants his club cleaned and trash taken out WITHOUT PAYING EXTRA FOR IT!!
The people working with me have body guarded celebrities and posess extensive experience dealing with life threatening situations requiring far more than a tight t-shirt. After a group vote I approached the manager with our decision and the rest was recent history.
Warning: Event security personnel who allow themselves to be used in capacities other than providing protection run the risk of being used as free labor by greedy clients.
Another shocker is finding out the owner paid bouncers ( not us ) $25.00 a night for often full contact club security work !?! $25.00 in exchange for four hours effort and a half hour or more free clean up is insane. What's even more insane is why anyone would take such low paying, high risk work?
When club security is cheap security patrons should beware. While everyone who works for such low wages isn't unsuited for a position of trust ( and liability ), many are there strictly to flex their muscles upon whomever crosses their paths.
Well paid security professionals are worth their weight in gold because they are usually intelligent, skilled at stopping potential problems from becoming violent and practice the kind of customer service that keeps paying customers coming back.
In the 21st century, any place that thinks so little of those who protect it needs to entered very carefully. If club security is making peanuts, how much is your life worth once you enter such an establishment?
