Xavier University is hosting the first of a series of public forums on the state of New Orleans in the aftermath of Katrina on March 29, 2006, 7:00 p.m., in the University Center Ballroom. “Katrina and the Culture of New Orleans: A Public Forum” will be a conversation about Katrina and the future of New Orleans culture--its music, art, festivals, universities, and colleges. The forum moderator is Jarvis DeBerry (columnist, The Times-Picayune); panelists will include Tom Piazza (author of Why New Orleans Matters), Helen Regis (professor of cultural anthropology, LSU), Jerry Ward (professor of English, Dillard University, and author of THE KATRINA PAPERS), and Michael White (jazz musician and professor of Spanish, Xavier University). The forum will be sponsored by the Xavier University Endowment for the Humanities and is free and open to the public. Contact Dr. Violet H. Bryan, 504-520-7635 or 504-520-5158.
