Ramadhan 2009

Bismillaah ir Rahmaan ir Rahiim In The Name of Allah The Most Compassionate, The Most Merciful. Ramadhan Mubarak! [Happy, Blessed, Ramadhan!]

As Salaamu 'Alaikum. Ramadhan is near; just a few day's away. The First day of Ramadhan is August 22, 2009, according to The Fiqh Council of North America.

Quote:
The Fiqh Council of North America recognizes astronomical calculation as an acceptable Shar’i method for determining the beginning of Lunar months including the months of Ramadan and Shawwal. FCNA uses Makkah al-Mukarram as a conventional point and takes the position that the conjunction must take place before sunset in Makkah and moon must set after sunset in Makkah.
Then begins a thirty day's fast, commencing from dawn to sunset (night), insha'allah (if Allah so wills).

It was during Ramadhan, that the Holy Qur'an was sent down to the Prophet Muhammad S.A.A.W.,[Sallallahu ’alaihi wa sallam - May the Blessings and Peace of Allah be upon Him]; brought by the Spirit of Truth, the Arch Angel Gabriel, (A.S.) Peace be upon Him. And taught over a period of approximately twenty-three years, ending with the transition of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, Sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam.

Generally, the Holy Qur'an is read in its entirety, in reverence, during this sacred month as Muslims concentrate upon growing ever nearer to The Only One, Allah; The Compassionate, The Merciful, The Owner of Sovereignty. Loyal, constant prayer to The Almighty GOD, The Subtle, The Intensely Merciful, as well as, contemplative consideration of private devotion; mystical awareness, is pursued. Charitable deeds are also encouraged, as purification of resources [wealth/revenue].

Recite: I seek the protection of GOD, from the accursed devil.

002.183 O ye who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, that ye may (learn) self-restraint,-

002.184 (Fasting) for a fixed number of days; but if any of you is ill, or on a journey, the prescribed number (Should be made up) from days later. For those who can do it (With hardship), is a ransom, the feeding of one that is indigent. But he that will give more, of his own free will,- it is better for him. And it is better for you that ye fast, if ye only knew.

002.185 Ramadhan is the (month) in which was sent down the Qur'an, as a guide to mankind, also clear (Signs) for guidance and judgment (Between right and wrong). So every one of you who is present (at his home) during that month should spend it in fasting, but if any one is ill, or on a journey, the prescribed period (Should be made up) by days later. Allah intends every facility for you; He does not want to put to difficulties. (He wants you) to complete the prescribed period, and to glorify Him in that He has guided you; and perchance ye shall be grateful. Al-Qur'an, 002.183-185 (Al-Baqara [The Cow])

012.002 إِنَّا أَنْزَلْنَاهُ قُرْآنًا عَرَبِيًّا لَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ

012.002 We have sent it down as an Arabic Qur'an, in order that ye may learn wisdom.

012.003 We do relate unto thee the most beautiful of stories, in that We reveal to thee this (portion of the) Qur'an: before this, thou too was among those who knew it not. Al-Qur'an, 012.002-003 (Yusuf [Joseph])

Fasting isn't for everyone; some people are exempted from fasting in Islam. Nonetheless, health dictates that we should give the body that treats us well if we treat it well, a much needed rest, periodically. Such, will enable it to throw off some of the poisons that have accumulated in the body. In fact, it is for this reason that some people experience a few days of dizziness at the start of the fast, or, during the fast.

Eid Al-Fitr, is a celebration by Muslims, after having fasted the holy month of Ramadhan; as a means of showing gratitude and thanking Allah, The Most Merciful, The Guardian of Faith, The Appreciative, The Honourer, for having Guided us.

It is suggested that each reading of The Holy Qur'an, should be preceded by the following words: Say, I take refuge in Allah from Satan the accursed, rejected.

Again, it is suggested that Surah 1, Al Fatihah, be recited at the start of each day's reading of The Holy Qur'an.

Sura Al-Fatiha
001.001 بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
001.001 In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
001.002 الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
001.002 Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds;
001.003 الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
001.003 Most Gracious, Most Merciful;
001.004 مَالِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ
001.004 Master of the Day of Judgment.
001.005 إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ
001.005 Thee do we worship, and Thine aid we seek.
001.006 اهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ
001.006 Show us the straight way,
001.007 صِرَاطَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلا الضَّالِّينَ
001.007 The way of those on whom Thou hast bestowed Thy Grace, those whose (portion) is not wrath, and who go not astray. Al-Qur'an, 001.001-007 (Al-Fatiha [The Opening])

Blackicon Peace This Ramadan, keep it simple~...Pray only to Allah, GOD willing

THE IDOLIZATION OF MUHAMMAD

Refusing to believe God in His repeated assertions that the QURAN IS COMPLETE, PERFECT, & SHALL BE THE ONLY SOURCE of religious guidance, and following the conjecture known as Hadith & Sunna constitutes deification of the prophet Muhammad against his will.

"Say (O Muhammad), 'If the ocean were ink for the words of my Lord, the ocean would have run out before my Lord runs out of words, even if we supplied twice as much ink.' Say (O Muhammad), 'I am no more than a human being like you. It has been revealed to me that your God is ONE GOD. Thus, anyone who looks forward to meeting his Lord shall lead a righteous life, and NEVER SET UP ANY IDOLS beside his Lord.'" (18:109-110)

[6:114] Shall I seek other than GOD as a source of law, when He has revealed to you this book fully detailed?* Those who received the scripture recognize that it has been revealed from your Lord, truthfully. You shall not harbor any doubt.

[7:185] Have they not looked at the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and all the things GOD has created? Does it ever occur to them that the end of their life may be near? Which Hadith, beside this, do they believe in?

Salat (contact or link prayers) is the name for the obligatory prayers which are performed five times a day, and are a direct contact or link between the worshipper and God with no earthly intermediaries.

[14:4] We did not send any messenger except (to preach) in the tongue of his people, in order to clarify things for them. GOD then sends astray whomever He wills, and guides whomever He wills. He is the Almighty, the Most Wise.

Please only refer to Quran for any conditions. There is no difference in prayer performance for Men and Women. GOD has created both sexes equal and places no gender based conditions for SALAT.

The man-made conditions such as "menstruating woman are not allowed to pray" is not Quranic and should be discarded as such. GOD will not, by his infinite grace, take away woman's right to pray due to some natural bodily function put in place by GOD himself. Again, all conditions not found in the Quran should be and must be discarded.

On Praying in Arabic or English, here's what the Quran says:

[26:198] If we revealed this to people who do not know Arabic.

[26:199] And had him recite it (in Arabic), they could not possibly believe in it.
[26:200] We thus render it (like a foreign language) in the hearts of the guilty.

[26:214] You shall preach to the people who are closest to you.
[26:215] And lower your wing for the believers who follow you.
[26:216] If they disobey you, then say, "I disown what you do."[26:217] And put your trust in the Almighty, Most Merciful.

[41:44] If we made it a non-Arabic Quran they would have said, "Why did it come down in that language?" Whether it is Arabic or non-Arabic, say, "For those who believe, it is a guide and healing. As for those who disbelieve, they will be deaf and blind to it, as if they are being addressed from faraway."

The Correct Azaan

If you pray by yourself, an Azaan is not needed. The Azaan is usually observed when a group of people are ready to observe the prayer. One person stands up and utters the Azaan words, or chants them as follows: Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar (God is great, God is great).
Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar.
Laa Elaaha Ella Allah (There is no god besides God).

Performing abolution:

**The intention he refers to in the video is only a suggestion to Glorify Allah.

[2:225] GOD does not hold you responsible for the mere utterance of oaths; He holds you responsible for your innermost intentions. GOD is Forgiver, Clement.

[9:107] There are those who abuse the masjid by practicing idol worship, dividing the believers, and providing comfort to those who oppose GOD and His messenger. They solemnly swear: "Our intentions are honorable!" GOD bears witness that they are liars.

[9:108] You shall never pray in such a masjid. A masjid that is established on the basis of righteousness from the first day is more worthy of your praying therein. In it, there are people who love to be purified. GOD loves those who purify themselves.

[15:99] Worship your Lord in order to attain certainty.

Each prayer is practically an audience with God. Facing in the direction of the Ka'ba (the first mosque ever, built by patriarch Abraham and his son Ismail for the worship of the One God, at the site which long later became the city of Makkah in Arabia), the prayer is opened by saying "Allah Akbar", i.e.. God is Greater (than all else), and practically you are turning your back to all the universe and are addressing God. One of the constant readings during prayer is the Opening Chapter of the Quran that reads:

"In the name of GOD, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
Praise be to GOD, Lord of the universe.
Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
Master of the Day of Judgment.
You alone we worship; You alone we ask for help.
Guide us in the right path;
the path of those whom You blessed; not of those who have
deserved wrath, nor of the strayers. " (1:1-7)

Bowing down and prostrating oneself (to God) interjecting "Glory to my Lord the Great", "Glory to my Lord the Highest", "God listens to those who thank Him" , the prayer is concluded in the sitting position (*or the second prostration) by reiterating the affirmation of the faith, the Shahada.

The correct Shahada which is; Ash-Hadu An Laa Elaaha Ellaa Allah, Wahdahu Laa Shareeka Lah. (I bear witness that there is no other god beside God. He ALONE is God; He has no partner).

This is the correct Shahada and nothing else should be added to it. Mentioning Mohammed or any other name besides GOD will nullify your Salat.

2:285] The messenger has believed in what was sent down to him from his Lord, and so did the believers. They believe in GOD, His angels, His scripture, and His messengers: "We make no distinction among any of His messengers." They say, "We hear, and we obey. Forgive us, our Lord. To You is the ultimate destiny."

[72:18] The places of worship belong to GOD; do not call on anyone else beside GOD.

Invoking Mohammed during prayer

[4:150] Those who disbelieve in GOD and His messengers, and seek to make distinction among GOD and His messengers, and say, "We believe in some and reject some," and wish to follow a path in between;

[4:151] these are the real disbelievers. We have prepared for the disbelievers a shameful retribution.
[4:152] As for those who believe in GOD and His messengers, and make no distinction among them, He will grant them their recompense. GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful.

In Salat (Contact prayers), every muscle of the body joins the soul and the mind in the worship and glory of Allah. Prayer is an act of worship. It is a matchless and unprecedented formula of intellectual meditation and spiritual devotion, of moral elevation and physical exercise, all combined.

Praying to the Creator on a daily basis is the best way to cultivate in a man a sound personality and to actualize his aspiration. God does not need man's prayer because He is free of all needs. Prayer is for our immeasurable benefit, and the blessings are beyond imagination.

Prayer, obligatory and spontaneous, is an immense spiritual treasure to be tapped. It inspires peace, purity and tranquility and instills companionship with God. It amazingly reduces the hustle and bustle of life to tame proportions. By their spacing to five times a day, including its beginning, prayers tend to maintain a therapeutic level and practically leave no room for mischievous thought or deed.

[16:98] When you read the Quran, you shall seek refuge in GOD from Satan the rejected.

[16:99] He has no power over those who believe and trust in their Lord.

[16:100] His power is limited to those who choose him as their master, those who choose him as their god.

[72:18] The places of worship belong to GOD; do not call on anyone else beside GOD.

Salat with only Allah's name being mentioned

[72:19] When GOD's servant advocated Him alone, almost all of them banded together to oppose him.

[72:20] Say, "I worship only my Lord; I never set up any idols beside Him."

[72:21] Say, "I possess no power to harm you, nor to guide you."

[72:22] Say, "No one can protect me from GOD, nor can I find any other refuge beside Him.

[72:23] "I deliver GOD's proclamations and messages." Those who disobey GOD and His messenger incur the fire of Hell, wherein they abide forever.

[16:105] The only ones who fabricate false doctrines are those who do not believe in GOD's revelations; they are the real liars

[30:30] Therefore, you shall devote yourself to the religion of strict monotheism. Such is the natural instinct placed into the people by GOD. Such creation of GOD will never change. This is the perfect religion, but most people do not know.

....Idol Worship (Shirk)

Reproduced from:
MUSLIM PERSPECTIVE
Published Monthly by MASJID TUCSON
January 1988 Jumada I 1408
Editor: Rashad Khalifa, Ph.D
The most popular Quranic verse among the Muhammadan masses is 33:56 which says:

"God and His angels support the prophet ;O you who believe,

you shall support him and regard him as he should be regarded."

When you ask the average Muhammadan,
"What do the words SULLOO 'ALAYHI mean," he or she invariably states that they mean, "Utter Salawaat, i.e., meditate on Muhammad day and night." Right here, one detects Satan's trick, and his enormous success in turning sincere Muslims into idol-worshiping Muhammadans. Only a few verses ahead of 33:56, we see a powerful commandment to commemorate our Almighty Creator, Most High, Be He Glorified For Ever - to meditate on His Holy names, and glorify Him day and night:

"O you who believe, you shall commemorate God continuously, and glorify Him day and night" (33: 41-42).

But Satan decided that he would rather see the Muslims commemorate the powerless human being Muhammad (7:188, 10:49, 18:110, 41:6, & 72:21), instead of the Living, Eternal, Lord of all creation. Although Verse 33:43 clearly states that God and His angels: support (YUSAL-LOON) all the righteous believers, Satan succeeded in manipulating the Muslim masses into becoming Muhammadans who dedicate most of their worship to the Prophet.
Let us now look at 33:56 and see what it really says:
(1) First of all, Muhammad is described in this verse as "NABI" (prophet). This particular description is used throughout the Quran, exclusively, when talking about Muhammad when he was alive, and never after his death.
Repeatedly, I have challenged the Muhammadan Ulema to show me a verse where Muhammad is referred to as NABI after his death, and they failed to meet the challenge.
(2) There are many narrations in the Quran that deal with specific historical events, and verses meant for the believers during specified periods. Any narrations connected with the word NABI were applicable only during the prophet's life on this earth. For example, there is a commandment in 49:2 ordering the believers not to raise their voices above the voice of the NABI. How can we carry out this commandment NOW??!!
Obviously, the Prophet is dead (39:30), and has no voice ; this commandment, therefore, ended when the Prophet died.
(3) The words YUSALLOON or SALLOO or YUSALEE or SALAT are all derived from the root word WASALA, the noun being WASL, or making contact. The word SALLOO, therefore, means to keep in contact with the Prophet, to join him, to be with him, and to support him with all our strength. Of course, this could be done only when he was alive. Hence the use of the word NABI.
(4) Because the believers observe the SALAT prayers five times daily, they are in contact with their Creator, and their Creator is in contact with them. This is why we see that God and His angels do the same thing for the believers, as well as for the Prophet (33:42). But the Muhammadans have taken the whole thing out of context, and persist in idolizing Muhammad against his will.
(5) The Prophet himself was ordered to MAKE SALAT (keep in contact or support) the believers (9:103).
The Muhammadan masses forget all these facts; Satan has hypnotized them into commemorating Muhammad and meditating on his name day and night. THIS IS FLAGRANT IDOL WOR-SHIP that is despised by God, his messenger, and all Muslims (only Muhammadans like it). Verse 30:40 reminds us that God is the one who created us; God is the one who provides for us; God is the one who terminates our lives; God is the one who resurrects us for recompense. None of the idols does any of these things. Thus, the true Muslims commemorate their Almighty Creator, meditate on His glorious names, and proclaim His glory day and night.

Bismillaah. As salaamu 'alaika, Pragmatic. Thanks for the video's. I didn't recognize Rashad Khalifa, right away. I still remember how he would roar, against Ahadiith. There are some bad ones of course, but you know I have read some discourses by people that can make perfectly good sense of Ahadiith. It is actually a Science. And doesn't the Holy Qur'an instruct us to send blessings or prayers upon Prophet Muhammad, PBUH.(?)

I haven't studied them but have you seen these links? -

PROPHET MUHAMMAD FORBIDDEN FROM ISSUING RELIGIOUS
INSTRUCTION OTHER THAN THE QURAN

"This is the utterance of an honorable messenger. Not the utterance of a poet; rarely do you believe. Nor the utterance of a soothsayer; rarely do you take heed. A revelation from the Lord of the universe. Had he uttered any other teachings. We would have punished him. We would have stopped the revelations to him." [69:40-46]

PROPHET MUHAMMAD FORBIDDEN FROM
EXPLAINING THE QURAN

"Do not move your tongue to hasten it. It is we who will collect it into Quran. Once we recite it, you shall follow such a Quran. Then it is WE who will explain it." 75:16-19

GOD - TEACHER OF THE QURAN

"The Most Gracious. Teacher of the Quran." 55:1-2

QURAN - FULLY DETAILED AND ONLY
SOURCE OF RELIGIOUS LAW

"Shall I seek other than GOD as a source of law, when He has revealed to you this book fully detailed? Those who received the scripture recognize that it has been revealed from your Lord, truthfully. You shall not harbor any doubt. The word of your Lord is complete, in truth and justice. Nothing shall abrogate His words. He is the Hearer, the Omniscient." 6:114-115

"This Quran could not possibly be authored by other than GOD. It confirms all previous messages, and provides a fully detailed scripture. It is infallible, for it comes from the Lord of the universe." 10:37

OBEYING THE PROPHET IS UPHOLDING
THE QURAN ONLY

Prophet Muhammad obviously was a believer, and as a believer he followed the above verses from the Quran, which came from his own mouth. Now that Muhammad is dead, obeying him is upholding what he upheld. To suggest that Muhammad violated the above verses, by issuing religious laws or following other sources besides the Quran (like the insistence on hadith/sunnah), is to say that Muhammad was a disbeliever.

DEAD, NOT ALIVE

God in His infinite Wisdom, has clarified the meaning of DEAD, a meaning the idolators cannot comprehend. Muhammad is dead. How can you obey a dead man?

"They are DEAD, N O T A L I V E, and they have no idea how or when they will be resurrected." 16:21

[24:36] (God's guidance is found) in houses exalted by GOD, for His name is commemorated therein. Glorifying Him therein, day and night -

HOW TO CALCULATE THE NEW ISLAMIC MONTH

To calculate when a new lunar month begins we need to know two facts, the first is the exact time of the birth of the new moon, and the second fact is the exact time of the sunset of the same day.

The new lunar month begins theoretically at the birth of the new moon, but begins practically at the first sunset to follow the birth of the new moon. God already gave us enough knowledge to calculate the beginning of the first day of Ramadan for the next hundreds of years.

Sighting of the moon, to determine the new Islamic month, is an invention by the scholars that they took after the Jewish Rabbis who insist on sighting of the moon for their Jewish Lunar months.

Sighting of the moon is not in the Quran, but was a way of recognizing the beginning of the lunar month for those who lived in the desert and have no other means to recognize the beginning of the new month.

God in the Quran reminds us that the phases of the moon are only a tool to calculate the calendar and the time for pilgrimage (Hajj), see 2:189. God never said in the Quran that sighting of the crescent moon is a requirement to determine the beginning of the new lunar month.

God is all Omniscient, Knower of everything, He knows that different generations will have different means of calculating the time of the birth of the new moon. Now, with all the knowledge we have, we cannot sit still knowing that the month has already started and wait for a scholar to go look for the crescent moon that may or may not be visible because of many factors, the most common of them is the weather condition. The believers believe God in His own book and realize that God meant it when He said that His book, the Quran, is complete, perfect and fully detailed. And that it has the details and explanations of everything we need for our salvation.

First Fasting Day of Ramadan 2009: Aug. 21
Last Fasting Day of Ramadan 2009: September 18

The first day ofRamadan will begin by the Sunset of August 20 in the year of 2009 for North and South America. This means that our first fasting day will be Aug.21, God willing. Our last fasting day of Ramadan will be September 18, 2009. Night of Destiny, 27th night of Ramadan, starts at the sunset of September 15, 2009.

To verify your city's first day of Ramadan, check on the time of the sunset and the time of the birth of the New Moon at the USA Naval Observatory. If the new moon is born before the Sunset you will fast next morning as the first day of fasting. If it is born after the Sunset, then, the first day of Ramadan will start by the following Sunset, and you fast the day after that. The Moon and Lunar Calendar

When God refers to physical phenomenon and proofs in the Quran, night is followed by day consistently. Therefore the new date for lunar months starts with the night.

[2:164] In the creation of the heavens and the earth, the alternation of night and day, there are sufficient proofs for people who understand.

[3:27] "You merge the night into the day, and merge the day into the night. You produce the living from the dead, and produce the dead from the living, and You provide for whomever You choose, without limits."

[3:190] In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the alternation of night and day, there are signs for those who possess intelligence.

[6:13] To Him belongs everything that dwells in the night and the day. He is the Hearer, the Knower.

[6:60] He is the One who puts you to death during the night, and knows even the smallest of your actions during the day. He resurrects you every morning, until your life span is fulfilled, then to Him is your ultimate return. He will then inform you of everything you had done.

[7:54] Your Lord is the one GOD, who created the heavens and the earth in six days, then assumed all authority. The night overtakes the day, as it pursues it persistently, and the sun, the moon, and the stars are committed to serve by His command. Absolutely, He controls all creation and all commands. Most Exalted is GOD, Lord of the universe.

[10:6] Surely, in the alternation of night and day, and what GOD created in the heavens and the earth, there are proofs for people who are righteous.

[10:24] our judgment comes by night or by day, leaving it completely barren, as if nothing existed the previous day. We thus explain the revelations for people who reflect.

[10:50] Say, "Whether His retribution comes to you by night or by day, why are the transgressors in such a hurry?

[10:67] He is the One who rendered the night for your rest, and rendered the day lighted. These are proofs for people who can hear.

[13:3] He is the One who constructed the earth and placed on it mountains and rivers. And from the different kinds of fruits, He made them into pairs - males and females. The night overtakes the day. These are solid proofs for people who think.

[13:10] It is the same whether you conceal your thoughts, or declare them, or hide in the darkness of the night, or act in the daylight.

[14:33] He has committed the sun and the moon in your service, continuously. He has committed the night and the day to serve you.

[16:12] And He commits, in your service, the night and the day, as well as the sun and the moon. Also, the stars are committed by His command. These are (sufficient) proofs for people who understand.

[20:130] Therefore, be patient in the face of their utterances, and praise and glorify your Lord before sunrise and before sunset. And during the night glorify Him, as well as at both ends of the day, that you may be happy.

[21:33] And He is the One who created the night and the day, and the sun and the moon; each floating in its own orbit.

[21:42] Say, "Who can protect you from the Most Gracious during the night or during the day?" Indeed, they are totally oblivious to the message of their Lord.

[22:61] It is a fact that GOD merges the night into the day, and merges the day into the night, and that GOD is Hearer, Seer.

[23:80] He is the One who controls life and death, and He is the One who alternates the night and day. Do you not understand?

[24:44] GOD controls the night and day. This should be a lesson for those who possess eyes.

[25:47] He is the One who designed the night to be a cover, and for you to sleep and rest. And He made the day a resurrection.

[25:62] He is the One who designed the night and the day to alternate: a sufficient proof for those who wish to take heed, or to be appreciative.

[27:86] Have they not seen that we made the night for their rest, and the day lighted? These should be sufficient proofs for people who believe.

[28:71] Say, "What if GOD made the night perpetual, until the Day of Resurrection? Which god, other than GOD, can provide you with light? Do you not hear?"

[28:72] Say, "What if GOD made the daylight perpetual, until the Day of Resurrection? Which god, other than GOD, can provide you with a night for your rest? Do you not see?"

[28:73] It is mercy from Him that He created for you the night and the day in order to rest (during the night), then seek His provisions (during the day), that you may be appreciative.

[30:23] Among His proofs is your sleeping during the night or the day, and your working in pursuit of His provisions. In this, there are sufficient proofs for people who can hear.

[31:29] Do you not realize that GOD merges the night into the day and merges the day into the night, and that He has committed the sun and the moon in your service, each running in its orbit for a specific life span, and that GOD is fully Cognizant of everything you do?

[35:13] He merges the night into the day, and merges the day into the night. He has committed the sun and the moon to run for a predetermined period of time. Such is GOD your Lord; to Him belongs all kingship. Any idols you set up beside Him do not possess as much as a seed's shell.

[36:37] Another sign for them is the night: we remove the daylight therefrom, whereupon they are in darkness.

[36:40] The sun is never to catch up with the moon - the night and the day never deviate - each of them is floating in its own orbit.

[38:18] We committed the mountains in his service, glorifying with him night and day.

[39:5] He created the heavens and the earth truthfully. He rolls the night over the day, and rolls the day over the night. He committed the sun and the moon, each running for a finite period. Absolutely, He is the Almighty, the Forgiving.

[40:61] GOD is the One who designed the night so you can rest in it, and the day lighted. GOD bestows many blessings upon the people, but most people are not thankful.

[41:37] Among His proofs are the night and the day, and the sun and the moon. Do not prostrate before the sun, nor the moon; you shall fall prostrate before the GOD who created them, if you truly worship Him alone.

[45:5] Also, the alternation of the night and the day, and the provisions that GOD sends down from the sky to revive dead lands, and the manipulation of the winds; all these are proofs for people who understand.

[57:6] He merges the night into the day, and merges the day into the night. He is fully aware of the innermost thoughts.

[69:7] He unleashed it upon them for seven nights and eight days, violently. You could see the people tossed around like decayed palm trunks.

[73:20] Your Lord knows that you meditate during two-thirds of the night, or half of it, or one-third of it, and so do some of those who believed with you. GOD has designed the night and the day, .

We "calculate" the timing of our five daily contact prayers (Salat)

[17:12] We rendered the night and the day two signs. We made the night dark, and the day lighted, that you may seek provisions from your Lord therein. This also establishes for you a timing system, and the means of calculation. We thus explain everything in detail.

We learn that for meditation and worship, God uses both expressions " night and day" or "day and night"

[2:274] Those who give to charity night and day, secretly and publicly, receive their recompense from their Lord; they will have nothing to fear, nor will they grieve.

[3:41] He said, "My Lord, give me a sign." He said, "Your sign is that you will not speak to the people for three days, except through signals. Commemorate your Lord frequently; and meditate night and day."

[6:52] And do not dismiss those who implore their Lord day and night, devoting themselves to Him alone

[7:205] You shall remember your Lord within yourself, publicly, privately, and quietly, day and night; do not be unaware.

[11:114] You shall observe the Contact Prayers (Salat) at both ends of the day, and during the night. The righteous works wipe out the evil works. This is a reminder for those who would take heed.

[18:28] You shall force yourself to be with those who worship their Lord day and night, seeking Him alone.

[19:62] They will not hear any nonsense therein; only peace. They receive their provisions therein, day and night.

[21:20] They glorify night and day, without ever tiring.

[24:36] (God's guidance is found) in houses exalted by GOD, for His name is commemorated therein. Glorifying Him therein, day and night -

[33:42] You shall glorify Him day and night.

[34:18] We placed between them and the communities that we blessed other oases, and we secured the journey between them: "Travel therein days and nights in complete security."

[40:55] Therefore, be patient, for GOD's promise is true, and ask forgiveness for your sin, and glorify and praise your Lord night and day.

[41:38] If they are too arrogant to do this, then those at your Lord glorify Him night and day, without ever tiring.

[48:9] That you people may believe in GOD and His messenger, and reverence Him, and observe Him, and glorify Him, day and night.

[76:25] And commemorate the name of your Lord day and night.

Day starts at the crack of dawn and finishes when sun is set.

[2:187] You may eat and drink until the white thread of light becomes distinguishable from the dark thread of night at dawn. Then, you shall fast until sunset. GOD thus clarifies His revelations for the people, that they may attain salvation.

[6:96] At the crack of dawn, He causes the morning to emerge. He made the night still, and He rendered the sun and the moon to serve as calculation devices. Such is the design of the Almighty, the Omniscient.

[11:114] You shall observe the Contact Prayers (Salat) at both ends of the day, and during the night. The righteous works wipe out the evil works. This is a reminder for those who would take heed.

[20:130] Therefore, be patient in the face of their utterances, and praise and glorify your Lord before sunrise and before sunset. And during the night glorify Him, as well as at both ends of the day, that you may be happy.

We learn above that the Sun and Moon are in our service. One of services are to "learn" to count and "calculate"

[10:5] He is the One who rendered the sun radiant, and the moon a light, and He designed its phases that you may learn to count the years and to calculate. GOD did not create all this, except for a specific purpose. He explains the revelations for people who know.

[55:5] The sun and the moon are perfectly calculated.

[29:61] If you ask them, "Who created the heavens and the earth, and put the sun and the moon in your service," they will say, "GOD." Why then did they deviate?

The phases of the moon are a timing device

[2:189] They ask you about the phases of the moon! Say, "They provide a timing device for the people, and determine the time of Hajj."

[36:39] The moon we designed to appear in stages, until it becomes like an old curved sheath.

Conclusions:

1. Day commences before sunrise at the crack (thread) of Dawn (sun is present below the horizon but is "not visible" at this stage)

2. Day ends after the sun is set

3. Night and Day are timing devices and help us "calculate" our daily Salat times

4. Phases of the moon are a timing device.
5. Counting and Calculating are both permitted. Calculation is a complex phenomenon whereas counting is a simple phenomenon. You cannot calculate if you cannot count

6. There is no evidence in the Quran that the new moon has to be physically sighted and witnessed before the next month can commence.

7. Most "Muslims" accept calculation methods to determine the timing of their daily prayers, but reject the same Quranic principal when it comes to the calculation of months. They rely on other sources besides God, which mandate physically sighting the crescent.

8. Similarly, most "Muslims" use conjecture to determine the night of destiny which leads them astray from the true blessings of the months of Ramadan

In the past, I used to follow the Saudi, moon sighting. It seemed right on time to my mind, even though others had complaints regarding it.

All that posting, Masha'allah, and I still woke up and ate 2 breakfast burrito's this mourning with the kids ...still can't get right after all these years, All praise be to Allah. No one possesses power except GOD. GOD willing, got to start my fast tommorow mourning, Peace and enjoy your Ramadhan!

[18:32] Cite for them the example of two men: we gave one of them two gardens of grapes, surrounded by date palms, and placed other crops between them.
[18:33] Both gardens produced their crops on time, and generously, for we caused a river to run through them.
[18:34] Once, after harvesting, he boastfully told his friend: "I am far more prosperous than you, and I command more respect from the people."

[18:35] When he entered his garden, he wronged his soul by saying, "I do not think that this will ever end.
[18:36] "Moreover, I think this is it; I do not think that the Hour (the Hereafter) will ever come to pass. Even if I am returned to my Lord, I will (be clever enough to) possess an even better one over there."
[18:37] His friend said to him, as he debated with him, "Have you disbelieved in the One who created you from dust, then from a tiny drop, then perfected you into a man?

[18:38] "As for me, GOD is my Lord, and I will never set up any other god besides my Lord.

[18:39] "When you entered your garden, you should have said, `This is what GOD has given me (Maa Shaa Allah). No one possesses power except GOD (La Quwwata Ellaa Bellaah).' You may see that I possess less money and less children than you.

[18:40] "My Lord may grant me better than your garden. He may send a violent storm from the sky that wipes out your garden, leaving it completely barren.
[18:41] "Or, its water may sink deeper, out of your reach."
[18:42] Indeed, his crops were wiped out, and he ended up sorrowful, lamenting what he had spent on it in vain, as his property lay barren. He finally said, "I wish I never set up my property as a god beside my Lord."

[18:43] No force on earth could have helped him against GOD, nor was it possible for him to receive any help.
[18:44] That is because the only true Lord and master is GOD; He provides the best recompense, and with Him is the best destiny.

Bismillaah ir Rahmaan ir Rahiim. As salaamu 'alaika, Pragmatic, Shukran for those uplifting verses. I don't seem so concerned with the first meal now, after so many years of fasting. This morning I ate some of a cantaloupe, I'd cut up last night; and enjoyed its refreshing stimulation. I didn't even need to drink a fluid, because of its juiciness. That is all that I've had today. ShakaZulu has a spectacular aura aboutShakaZulu has a spectacular aura about
Bismillaah ir Rahmaan ir Rahiim. Ramadhan Kareem! As salaamu 'alaikum. Al-Muminoon ( الْمُؤْمِنُونَ) - The Believers - have an example from which they can learn, regarding those peoples to whom was sent a Prophet [PBUT], and whom, sometime afterward's defaulted to their previous vile and corrupt, behavior.

Say; I seek the protection of GOD, from Satan, the outcast.

023.001 The believers must (eventually) win through,-

023.002 Those who humble themselves in their prayers;

023.003 Who avoid vain talk;

023.004 Who are active in deeds of charity;

023.005 Who abstain from sex,

023.006 Except with those joined to them in the marriage bond, or (the captives) whom their right hands possess,- for (in their case) they are free from blame,

023.007 But those whose desires exceed those limits are transgressors;-

023.008 Those who faithfully observe their trusts and their covenants;

023.009 And who (strictly) guard their prayers;-

023.010 These will be the heirs,

023.011 Who will inherit Paradise: they will dwell therein (for ever).

Al-Qur'an, 023.001-011 (Al-Mumenoon [The Believers])

Additionally, Al-Muminoon - The Believers - also have much in the way of an example, to learn from "The worshipers of the Fire!" Those whom have killed out their higher natural instincts of right, and or, correct actions; (only) to become one who enjoys with so-called discrimination and appreciation, the lowest and meanest things of the fleshly doings. An unwell, fleshly expert of corrupt and evil thinking and doing! Many of these people, or, Fire worshipers, are very cruel regarding their tolerance of other Way's of Life, which they see as subjugating or, subduing their principal (corrupted) life style.

25:43. Hast thou seen him who chooseth for his god his own lust? Wouldst thou then be guardian over him? Pickthal's Quran Translation

25:43. Seest thou such a one as taketh for his god his own passion (or impulse)? Couldst thou be a disposer of affairs for him? Yusuf Ali's Quran Translation

25. 43: Yusuf Ali's Commentary from QuranTrans
C3097. The man who worships his own passions or impulses or desires is the most hopeless to teach or lead or guide. If it were anything else the matter with him, the Prophet could argue with him. But Reason cannot prevail over blind passion. It is vain to hope that such a man could be led, until his mad desires are killed. No one could undertake any responsibility for him, for he obeys no law and follows no advice. He is worse than brute beasts, which may not understand, but at least follow the wholesome instincts implanted in them by Allah. The lawless man has killed his instincts and is unwilling to submit to guidance.

The Holy Qur'an: 2:17, 24, 39, 80-81, 119, 126, 167, 174-175, 201, 217, 221, 257, 266, 275; 3:10, 16, 24, 103, 116, 131, 151, 181, 183, 185, 191-192; etcetera. re: Fire! There are not very many Chapters in Al-Qur'an, wherein the fire is not mentioned.

PBUT = Peace be upon them.
