Here is a work that (to the best of my knowledge) hasn't been explored here, and it's a very interesting study too; Islam's Economic System. I had recently found a pdf copy of Syed Abul A'ala Maududi's "Economic System of Islam." Almost naturally I jumped into the section on (Riba) Interest/Usury, page 160. I had the understanding that the subject wasn't clearly understood, and that the Prophet Muhammad PBUH, did not give sufficient information concerning it. However, after reading through several pages on Interest/Usury, I can say with confidence that Maulana Maududi has a thorough grasp of the matter. I also have a broader understanding of the problems that usury can cause and has caused already. I've posted some links to Maulana Maududi's works. I began reading his books in the late 1970's, and I've never regretted reading any title by Maulana Maududi.

If you've read Syed Abul A'ala Maududi's "Economic System of Islam," (see thread above) "Riba or, interest/usury," starting on page 160, then you have learned something of the lending mentality that dominates this financial sector. The following videos give an analogy of the worldly system as it is today. I've not seen all of videos, only the first two thus far, but they seem quite informative.
