Greetings! ImHotep! I read/pondered the posts in this thread. I even vistited the 'Egyption Astrology' website. Our ancestors did not refer to Heru as Horus, nor was Ausar (Asr) known as Osiris. So my original question/concern still stands: If our current interpretation/imagery is skewed how can we truly know ourselves not to mention seek guidance via the tools of astrology (cosmology)? "Greetings! ImHotep! I read in brother John G. Jackson's, "Introduction to African Civilizations" that Kemet had definite astrological signs/symbols that pre-dates the greek ones so in use today. . . . . Knowing that imagery shapes thought and thought shapes behavior, can it be That Africans (globally) that are unaware of our historical perspective in this regard are actually acting outside of their true astrological natures? I'm looking for scholarship that espouses the science of our ancient true symbols of astrology. Does anyone have any information or leads that I can follow? Searching Crocodile, Asante sana!"

Tenaystalin Beloveds: I most definately ascribe to Astrology. In my research of how electromagnetics affects our behavior and moods, I feel the force that guides us is definately driven by light and depending on the positioning of the stars also affects the light when we are born. I'm not sure about the gravitational pull aspects. Electromagnetics and gravity are the two strongest forces that govern our reality. I'm part of a African-centered homeschool collective that meets in the Bronx, NY. We have a volunteer drum instructor that just recently stated he wanted to do all of our and our children's charts. I'm so elated that he is introducing to our children this as an accepted reality of Afreekan peoples. Also, regarding 13 months. Ethiopia has 13 months, which I think Khemit dealt with that too. 12 months of 30 days (makes 360, full cycle) and then the transitional month of 5 days called "Pegume". Their year starts at Meskram which is September. Basically this is a telling sign of the origins of Judaism, as their new year mimics this time of year. As the Earth takes 360 days/degrees to make a full circle, it needs 5 degrees to compensate for the Sun moving around its galatic orbit. It is said that those five degrees are represented by the five fingers on each hand and toes on each foot. Love Empress Dahiyya |

i don't know...i first came across this info in my studies of Mdw Ntr and found out that astrology as it is now is completely backwards...upside down...the reverse of how Our Ancestors layed it out...but i don't know the implications for what you would b considered based on the setup as it is now...i'd like to do more research on this myself and i would appreciate you posting anything u might come across... Greetings Afrikans! I am appreciative of the discussion in this thread, rebelafrika, thanks for starting this up! However, you are right about that disinterest, cause it took me a while before I forced myself to read through this thread- in fact, I am so disinterested in this thread, I don't even know why I am responding! And with all these signs hating you or iggin you, I am curious to know (you had to know the question was coming!): What is Your sign? Without looking I'ma guess you're an Earth sign- Taurus or Cap? So there are two main points running through this thread, and I'd like to get to the bottom of it. The commonality is that YT f 'ed up- as usual, what was/is an ancient Afrikan science, now Verdic Astrology, as one Brother mentioned- to be first recognized as a practice among our KMTic ancestors, as AK has mentioned- (but as we know KMT is the daughter, so I am sure it was devloped and practiced before KMT.) Did YT add on more months, as our sis, Priestess, was trying to point out- and slightly supported by Empress Dahyyia's comment on 13 Ethiopian months, or did YT flip the script- or both?! From Dr Browder's book, Nile Valley Contributions, YT flipped it.... Which I think means we start from Aries or Pisces then to Aquarius to Cap, etc, as shown in the diagram AK provided, however it does not account for the 13th month- which I am intrigued by. Can someone clarify? Once again, I am thankful for All the imput given towards this discussion. Peace

![]() "An interesting calendar is used by the Coptic Christian church in Ethiopia, with 12 months of 30 days each, plus a 13th short month of 5 days. A tourist brochure once lured visitors with a promise "Come to Ethiopia and enjoy 13 months of sunshine a year." http://www-spof.gsfc.nasa.gov/stargaze/Scalend.htm "The calendar system of ancient Egypt is unique to both the cosmology of the Egyptians and their religion. Unlike the modern Julian calendar system, with it's 365 days to a year, the Egyptians followed a calendar system of 360 days, with three seasons, each made up of 4 months, with thirty days in each month. The seasons of the Egyptians corresponded with the cycles of the Nile, and were known as Inundation (pronounced akhet which lasted from June 21st to October 21st), Emergence (pronounced proyet which lasted from October 21st to February 21st), and Summer (pronounced shomu which lasted from February 21st to June 21st). The beginning of the year, also called "the opening of the year", was marked by the emergence of the star Sirius, in the constellation of Canis Major. The constellation emerged roughly on June 21st., and was called "the going up of the goddess Sothis". The star was visible just before sunrise, and is still one of the brightest stars in the sky, located to the lower left of Orion and taking the form of the dogs nose in the constellation Canis Major. Though the Egyptians did have a 360 day calendar, in a literal sense they did have a 365 day calendar system. The beginning of the year was marked by the addition of five additional days, known as "the yearly five days". These additional five days, were times of great feasting and celebration for the Egyptians, and it was not uncommon for the Egyptians to rituals, and other celebratory dealings on these days. The Egyptian calendar also took on other important functions within Egyptian life specifically in dealing with the astrology of the people." http://www.mnsu.edu/emuseum/prehisto.../calendar.html "The Perfect Egyptian Calendar The Ancient Egyptian calendar followed the Sothic year. This fact is clearly acknowledged in the Webster dictionary which defines the Sothic year as: * "of having to do with Sirius, the Dog Star" * "Designating or of an ancient Egyptian cycle or period of time based on fixed year" The Ancient Egyptians knew that the year was slightly over 365¼ days. The earth takes 365.25636 days to complete one revolution around the sun. It should be noted that the chronology of 3,000 years of Ancient Egyptian history, by modern Egyptologists, was made possible only because the Ancient Egyptians followed the Sothic Year of slightly over 365¼ days, i.e. 365.25636 days. The Ancient Egyptians were able to construct a monument with perfect precision, to match their perfect calendrical calculations. At the Abu Simbel Temple of Ramses II, is a statue of Ramses II, located among other statues at the back of its sanctuary, 180ft (55m) away from the only opening to the temple. The rays of the sun have illuminated his statue, next to Amen-Ra’s statue, on 22 February of each year for more than 3,200 years. The difference between 365.25 days and 365.25636 days, over a span of 3200 years, is 20 days. If such a minute difference of 0.00636 days per year was not accounted for, the date of illumination of the statue would have changed from its original date many years ago. The long duration of the shrine illumination is only possible because of the accuracy of the Ancient Egyptian Sothic calendar that followed the heliacal rising of Sabt (Sirius)—the Dog Star. The practical Ancient Egyptians used a calendar consisting of 12 months, each equal to 30 days. ![]() The Egyptian months, grouped into the Ancient Egyptian’s three seasons The adjustments needed to make a complete year, i.e. the difference between 365.25636 days and the 360 (30 x 12) days, were made as follows: 1. The difference of 5.25 days comes at the end of the Egyptian year, by adding 5 days every year and an additional day every 4 years. The Ancient Egyptian Year currently begins (in 2003) on 11 September. The 5/6 extra days begin on 6 September. 2. The difference of 0.00636 day (365.25636 – 365¼ days) for each year requires adding another day every (1/0.00636) 157¼ years, which the Egyptians continued to do until our present times. This is accomplished by adding an extra day every 157, 314, 471, and 629 year cycles. The Egyptians’ advanced knowledge in astronomy, as reflected in their calendar, was acknowledged by the great Strabo (64 BCE–25 CE), who wrote: They (the Egyptian priests) revealed to the Greeks the secrets of the full year, whom the latter ignored as with many other things... When Julius Caesar came to Egypt in 48 BCE, he commissioned the astronomer Sosigenes (from Alexandria) to introduce a calendar into the Roman Empire. Sosigenes' work is best described in an excerpt from The Book of the Master of the Hidden Places by Marsham Adams: He [Sosigenes] took no heed of standard or measure, of orbit or of sacred interval. But first he cut up the year into twelve unequal and unmeaning bits -- to say he divided it into portions is far too scientific an expression -- which rags bore indeed the name of the insulted moon, but of which that mighty measurer condescended to make no sort of recognition. And then he threw the "odd day" in along with the "odd month"; much as a child, who has broken his toy horse, glues a bit of the tail to the shortest of the legs, and calls aloud on creation to admire his handiwork. This resulted in the Julian calendar of 365 days a year and 366 days every leap year. The Roman (Julian) calendar was literally tailored to be fit for a King. The first day of the year was the coronation day for the Egyptian King at the end of the annual rejuvenation Jubilee—the Heb-Sed Festivals [see Egyptian Mystics: Seekers of the Way, for more info]. However, because the Julian calendar did not take into account that the year is a bit longer than 365¼ days, the Gregorian calendar was introduced in 1582 CE to correct this error. The Gregorian calendar is still off by about one full day every 3,000 years. In their attempts to have a different looking calendar than the Egyptian system, both the Julian and the Gregorian calendars fell short of the exact system, as developed by the Egyptians. The difference between 365.25 days and 365.25636 days, from the time of the adoption of the Julian calendar to our present time, is 13 days. Such a difference explains the 13 day variation in the annual observations of numerous Christian festivals—between the Orthodox and non-Orthodox churches. The reason is that one group followed the accurate Egyptian calendar, while the other group followed the inaccurate Julian calendar." http://www.egypt-tehuti.org/articles...-calendar.html She's counting the 5 days @ the end of the year as a 13th month...if she's basing it on the Ethiopian Calendar.
