Indigo Leaf Magazine
unearthing hidden talent
about indigo leaf magazine
Littleleaves_1

Indigo Leaf Magazine is a new online magazine designed to spotlight
talented, gifted writers and artists who do not (yet) earn a living
from their art. All of the articles you'll find on Indigo Leaf are written
by authors who have never been commercially published in the United States
prior to their publication here. They represent many different
nationalities, religions, ages, backgrounds and professions. They
epitomize the diversity of talent that exist in our world today.

Indigo Leaf is scheduled to launch January 2006, and will be published
bi-monthly thereafter.

Smallleaves

Do you have a true gift for writing that you have yet to share with the
world? Are you artistically inclined? We welcome the submittal of all
high quality, professional writing and art for consideration of
publication in Indigo Leaf. All articles are reviewed by a committee of
published writers, to ensure that the quality of the published work is
to the highest standard.

The theme of the first issue of Indigo Leaf is Beginnings. You can
submit your work on any subject; however, work that is submitted
related to "beginnings" will be given priority for publication in the inaugural
issue. The deadline for submitting work for the inaugural issue is
January 15th, 2006.

Please read the writers' guidelines and artists' guidelines carefully prior to submittal of your work.

Content is accepted for review in the following areas:

1. life -- First-person opinion pieces, on pretty much any subject under the sun, including politics, religion, day-to-day life, travel -- you name it. Intelligent writing is a requirement, humor is eagerly
welcomed.

2. arts & entertainment -- Opinion piece on anything related to arts
and/or entertainment. Did you recently have a run-in with a celebrity?
Are you a member of a neighbourhood dance troupe? Are you considering
writing a play, and are in the throes of writer's block? Tell us about
it.

3. books & music -- Do you have a local band whose gigs you never miss?
What book changed your life? What CD comes with you on every road trip?
Are you a musician? Singer? What's that like? Inquiring minds want to
know.

4. fiction -- Submit a short story, or an excerpt from your
yet-to-be-published novel.

5. featured artist -- Are you a painter? Photographer? Sculptor?
Jewelry designer? Glass-blower? Send us high quality images of your art, and
we'll feature it here.

Please note: we will not be able to financial compensate for
submissions at this time. If, however, your piece is used, I promise you'll get an ultrahip t-shirt featuring the indigo leaf logo as a memento. Trust me,
this shirt is way cooler than money.

writers' guidelines

Only writers who have never been published within the United States are
qualified to submit their work for publication. The following are the
only exceptions to this rule:

1. Writers whose publication experience is limited to a personal
weblog, “blog,” online journal, or other forms of "self-publishing" are still
welcome to submit articles for publication.

2. Writers whose publication experience is limited to academic theses
or other academic writings (including school or university newspapers or
law reviews) may submit articles for publication, so long as the
subject matter of the article is not related to the author’s academic studies.

3. Writers whose work has been published in private newsletters, or
“letters to the editor” of commercial publications (provided such
publication was unpaid) may still submit their article for publication.

Writers may submit their work to editor@indigoleafmagazine.com, and
must conform to the following:

a) Please include full name, a valid e-mail address, your webpage URL
(if applicable), a valid telephone number, and a short bio describing
yourself and your writing experience, if any.

b) In the subject line of your e-mail, please clearly indicate the
section of the magazine for which you are making your submittal (i.e.,
life, arts & entertainment, books & music, fiction)

c) Please include your 1000-1500 word article in the body of the
e-mail, rather than as an attachment.

artists' guidelines

All artists are invited to submit their work for consideration. Please
e-mail five (5) .jpg images (no wider than 450 pixels, and no bigger
than 1MB), along with your full name, a valid e-mail address, a webpage
URL (if applicable) a valid telephone number and a short bio describing
yourself and your work to editor@indigoleafmagazine.com.
