Grand Sales 2006 Opens in Accra

Grand Sales, the annual sales event organized by the Ghana Trade Fair Company Limited, opened in Accra on Tuesday with a call on exhibitors to adopt more customer-focused approaches in attending to visitors.

A minimum of 500 exhibitors from all sectors of the economy including the manufacturing and commerce industries are participating in the 13-day event, which runs from July 25 to August 7.

This year's Grand Sales is aimed at promoting made-in-Ghana products at the Trade Fair Site, La, Accra.

In a press conference, Mr. Kwame Ofori-Amanfo, Deputy Chief Executive of the Ghana Trade Fair Company, said the annual mid-year sales programme had contributed to the growth of commerce through competition among firms in the domestic market.

He said it had helped wholesalers to off-load their stocks at a good bargain.

Mr. Ofori-Amanfo called on the exhibitors to adopt healthy strategies to boost sales, yet cautioned against the display of unwholesome and expired goods.

He said the Company was going the extra mile to guarantee the safety of people and goods on the grounds by deploying the Police and the Military on 24-hour surveillance.

Mr. Ofori-Amanfo asked the exhibitors to be vigilant when people visit their stands and encouraged them to take insurance covers as a guard against any unforeseen occurrences at the fair.

He said there would be entertainment packages to attract visitors to the fair grounds.
