| This Brother Needs Our Support Comrades! Candyman 187's CD "Revolutionary Suicide"!
Peace Comrades, I am a new member to the forum. But I have been trying to spread the word about a young brother named Candyman 187. This is very important as he is being heavily targeted, the powers that be are trying to shut him down before he gets out there. A little history about this brother. At the tender age of 10, he was adopted by the legendary Tupac Shakur and Yaki Kadafi (member of the group Outlawz and POW Sekou Odinga's son) as their little brother. Tupac helped raise this brother, and put him in to the rap scene. After Tupac Shakur and Kadafi's death, Candyman 187 disappeared for a period of time. During this time, POW Dr. Mutulu Shakur contacted this brother started schooling him to life and to the game. Also Dr. Mutulu Shakur along with Yaasmyn Fula (Kadafi's mother and POW Sekou Odinga's wife) and Sekou Odinga convinced this brother to continue rapping and carrying on the legacies that not only his brothers but those before them left. I give you this history because I feel it is necessary for us to know where this brothers' roots lay at. After re emerging on the rap scene in 2003, Candyman 187 has been heavily targeted by the powers that be. From multiple 'run ins' with the law, and violation of his personal rights and privacy (Hip Hop Police and Cointelpro) he has been faced with a lot of tribulations. Including recent incidents where he got shot. (Though he lives the Thug Life that his old brother did. Candyman is also very political. I believe this is the new generation of revolutionaries, Revolutionary Thugs. I state this simply to let you know that he is not just a constant political rapper, he is a thug, he is a rapper that spits reality but incorporates politics into his raps) While going through all this, Candyman 187 has managed to put on multiple events for our heroes. His most recent was a fundraiser for POW's (Particularly Mutulu Shakur and Sekou Odinga) as well as a birthday bash for Tupac Shakur in New York. Many revolutionaries and leaders showed up to this event, including Panama Alba of the lords. He helped raise money for a lot of our comrades who are locked away. Aside from this he has hosted and put together many fund raisers and events. From fundraisers and marches for Assata, Against Police Brutality, Sekou Odinga, Mutulu Shakur, as well as the African American Heritage day in Harlem (he participated along with many other rappers). Candyman continues the struggle in a manner unspoken of. Candyman along with digital underground recently did a fundraiser in California to raise money for families who couldnt afford to bury their children. The reason I know all this is because I have followed this brother's career for quite sometime. I feel the young black nation has been looking for a leader/brother such as Candyman. As he is willing to stand up for what he believes. Just recently he did an interview with Davey D, where he along with Shock G talked about how Amerikkka needed to leave sister Assata alone. Where Candyman made the statement "If they touch Assata I will be on the frontline with my guns in the air" and something related to "We are going to do more than just burn the flag!" Recently after this interview, Candyman who had his debut Cd coming, was arrested on a JAY WALKING charge, and is now going through legal problems. But to top it off, his website for the cd was coincidentaly 'hacked'. Also amazingly at his last show it happened to be some idiot causing a ruckus, causing Candyman to be a reactionary and supposedly cause a riot. Now he is facing troubles because of that. And due to this he has had to cancel a few shows. Why are venues are starting to ban him from performing, because of his principles? A version of this interview can be found on Davey D's website. Hopefully it hasnt also been removed. http://p076.ezboard.com/fpoliticalpa...picID=30.topic Also here is another interview he did with Davey D about beef in the rap industry. http://p076.ezboard.com/fpoliticalpa...picID=23.topic Candyman had announced that proceeds from his Cd will also be going towards supporting POW's camps. And also his plans along with a handful of other artists to do a 50 state tour from which all proceeds were to go towards causes such as POW's. This brother has gone through a lot for standing up for our leaders, and right now he needs all the support he can get. He has been forced to sell his cd through EBAY until he can get his website back up. It is sad because they are trying to destroy this brother before he gets out there. Comrades this brother needs our support. I was privelged to hear some of the songs off the cd at a digital underground show in san franscisco where he also performed. He has a track dedicated to Assata called HANDS OFF, he speaks of all the souljahs that have been forced to go underground or are dead or locked up. Amazing song. He re named his cd, which was originaly called 'outta control' (its still selling on ebay under that name) ... But he has switched the name of the cd to REVOLUTIONARY SUICIDE. He has chosen atleast for now to put this Cd out independently, so he can use all the sales he can get. Last I talked to him he was telling me that the website would be back up soon, and pre orders were up now. This is an amazing brother who is not scared to ride for us, let him know that he is supported. This brother is making a statement and he needs us to let him know that he has support and love from the community. Please support him. You dont have to buy his Cd to support him, even though that would be a great gesture and would help him out a lot. There are multiple ways to support him. Help promote him, buy his cd, or simply send him an email letting him know that you support the brother. You can reach him at Candyman187Hvntz@aol.com I know it will help boost his spirit up. Go to ebay and find his cd if you are interested in buying it. If it is not available there just drop him an email asking how you can buy it. Thank You Brothers and Sisters for taking time to read this. REMEMBER CANDYMAN 187 - REVOLUTIONARY SUICIDE (formally titled Outta Control) Peace and Blessings. Stiff Resistance. |

Thugs commit crime for a living. Is this brother a criminal, a reformed criminal or someone using a liberal definitiono of a "thug"? Are you and Candyman one in the same, if so be upfront, dont advertise for yourself as if you were a stranger. Run-ins with the law....legitimate run-ins or "got caught slanging" type run-ins? Is he being harassed for his politics or for his hustle? Lastly whats that name? Candyman 187?? 187 is homicide. Candyman is well...confusing. Whats all that mean?

what is your definition of reactionary? lol look, I am not trying to "out" the brother, but I am also not keen on us as a global community supporting his music if he lives the same lifestyle as the rest of these brothers. he can talk anything, and the more positive the message the better, the question is "how is he living?" all of us have temptations and struggles. he can no more be expected to get me a job at Burger King "so I dont have to hustle no more" than I should be expected to "buy his record" so he dont have to be "reactionary" any more. on this level, the level of personal choices, each of us owns our decisions and we have to remember that many an ancestor walked the earth and made a way without slanging a rock or robbing another brother or sister. in fact many an ancestor would have rather died than do any of that to make a living. so when i see a brother claiming to be a "revolutionary thug" i got issues. maybe i am alone. but the two terms contradict one another and misled the youth. you cant be both. you must give up one of these lifestyles to truly excel at the other. and it sounds like this is the growth stage that this young cat is at....in which case, he should be learning a new way, not teaching a middle ground and we should be supporting a transformation, not purchasing a mixed message. the children come first. and no way i want my son to identify with a "revolutionary thug". a soldier. a teacher. a priest. a family man. but not a thug. not today, not ever. If you have the time check out these two posts: Heaven for a Thug? Rap Kidnaps Nationalism? Peace.

| One love Candy Man
Its possible to be a THug and revolutionary because both are a way of thinking before acting. Many brothas Ive met were headed down that rugged road but now their thinking is revolution, does that mean that the thug mentality is gone? I doubt fully. I went through the same conflict and it will eat u up itshard trust I know. Instead of knocking "thug life" lets figure out the best possible way that we can get the full "thug" Brothas to incooperate Revolutionary ideals.

Brother Ifasehunreincarnated, your message was brilliant, thoughtful and on point. I would like to check the brother out--his CD. Possibly even buy it. But like you said, I won't support anyone who is sending a message of confusion or duplicity to the youth. I am hopeful that some answers to your questions are forthcoming from the Candyman "187" supporter. Especially the question on 187. Amani, Sister Nia Quote:
