of the United States.

Lie #2 - When YOU are told the president is elected on November 2.

Lie #3 - When YOU are told on November 3, you have elected the
president.

Truth - Electors elect the president.

Truth - The President is not elected until December 13 (this year), or
on the first Monday after the second Wednesday in December.

Truth - Electors DO NOT have to vote along party lines. The vote for
who they want.

Truth - The Electoral College is in place to make sure YOU DO NOT
have the power to put the president in office, 538 Electors

Isn't the Electoral College system undemocratic, since it does not permit
the American people to directly choose their president?

Yes, it is undemocratic. But the Framers of the Constitution did not want
a system in which the president was chosen directly by the voters. "The
people are uninformed and would be misled by a few designing men," said
Massachusetts delegate Elbridge Gerry during the debate at the
constitutional convention. (Gerry ended up not signing the Constitution.)
