My mommy taught me....what the hell ya'll laughing at? Yeah I call her mommy!!! (LMAO) Anyway she taught me, "Question a lie until it dies!" Now I don't know where she got that but it caused me problems in school! The teacher put me out of my classroom in fifth grade cuz' I told her only an idiot would believe Columbus "discovered" something that someone was already standing on!!! I have been put out of Sunday schools, churches and once even a Mosque (surrounded by F.O.I.!, A very long story!). Besides that I have a smart mouth so my questions tended to be sarcastic in tone! She told me to keep asking questions, ".. until ain't nothin' left!"

 It is truly laughable how insistent these people are at perpetrating lies and inept they are at handling the truth when confronted with it. I too enjoyed terrorizing the propagandist posing as teachers that stood before me. The first time I got put out of class it was my favorite teacher that did so, one of the few black teachers in my HS. We were discussing for some reason children's behavior in public. It was being said and she was agreeing that if a child was horse playing in a store and broke something they would be deserving of a spanking. I was the only one to disagree. I said there would be no way on earth I would hit my child because they accidentally broke something in a store. The most anyone would get from me is an apology. This escalated and she told me to leave her classroom. I was truly miffed that my favorite teacher would treat me like that and even more be so unwilling to understand my position. The next time I saw my favorite teacher she pulled me into the teacher lounge and apologized to me and said that after considering my position that I was right. I thanked her ...not because I needed her to admit she was wrong but because she had shed from me whatever it is that keeps children from questioning teachers and so called authority figures forever. I decided from that day to challenge ALL teachers no matter what...if they treated me with respect my challenges would remain respectful if they disrespected me I would D-block they ass.

My father taught me humility, to always put others before you and still mantain high respect and dignity (Im still tryin to learn it completely), and to win discussion with reason and calmed voice. My mother taught that sometimes its better to keep your mouth close if you are not sure of what you are goin to say. But also taught me to always always complain, raise your voice and demand again and again if you are sure about your reasons. Both taught me to ask, search, investigate anything you dont fully understand, and be critic about the answers you find. They also taught me to believe in the Poeple, that the struggle never ends and that socialism is the answer!

Tua to each of you for sharing. My parents each had very different lessons both have shaped me in ways that are still revealing themselves to me. My father was a self taught philosopher who read avidly of many non- western non- Judao-Christian religions and philosophies. I had six brothers and sisters and we lived in small two bedroom apartment and for a period of time I shared a room with my father. He would read to me from his philosophy books before I myself could read. He would talk to me about eastern philosophy and the wisdom of the ancients. Much of what he read went over my head as you might imagine but some of it was crystal clear to me. He never thought I understood probably because I couldn't articulate my understanding but he continued to read to me anyway. The seeds he planted in me blossomed when I was about 24 years old when I picked up the book Metu Neter. I have been practicing and studying Kametic and African cosmology ever since and it has changed my life. My mother was an activist involved with the BPP and in public school battles in the 70's. She worked with gangs and I remember her inviting gang members to eat at our apartment. These brothers would always look out for my mother and would never let anyone touch her. Her lessons shaped me from the time I was a teenager until I finished college. All of the books I read during this period were political books - from George Jackson to Kwame Nkrumah, Ernesto Che Guevara to Franz Fanon. I was teethed on the barrel of the political tool. Today I am a perfect blend of both my parents. They both have made there transition and I miss them deeply and I can never be more thankful to them for all that they did to shape me. ONE

He taught us discipline self sufficiency to stick together as siblings He spoke early on in my life about the love for Afrikan people and the "white man" he absolutely couldnt stand them!! And working hard as he always did, even today...My mother taught us cleanliness (detailed) im talking tooth brush in the corners, responsibilty to home, having a sense of humor, sensitivity She advocated the same thing my father did too!!! ...And of course if somebody hit you hit they ass back!!! or call your wild ass cousins over to kick some ass...nah that was me....lololol |

Among the many lessons my Mother taught me, now retrospectively I can say the most important of all are about my origins that a young Afrikan immigrant in a western world can easily forget or reject: never forget where you come from, never forget who your family is, never forget you are the descendant of a long lineage. She always used to say it's stronger than you no matter what you do it will catch you up 'cause it's in you...She was right!
