Blackicon Sleep World Wrestling Entertainment endorses calling Samoan's "savages"

World Wrestling Entertainment endorses calling Samoan's "savages"

I was watching WWE tonight. My wife like wrestling, so do my kids. I was reading, when the sounds of Jim Crow etiquette, brushed pass the interior walls of my inferiority complex. I was awakened, from years of conditioning to the wailing cries of Jerry LawlerJim Ross *JR calling, Umaga a savage.

Not only did they call him a savage, but a savage beast.

When has it been okay to call black people savage.

How many people watch WWE yearly? At least 2 million

How about nightly?

First, let's do the background on Umaga. The Question I typed into the
search window was...

...is a Umaga a savage? See for yourself

Edward "Eddie" Umar Fatu (born March 28, 1973) is a
Samoanprofessional wrestler better known by his ring names Jamal, Ekmo, and currently Umaga.
He is currently signed to World Wrestling Entertainment, wrestling on the SmackDownbrand.
He is a member of the Anoa'i wrestling family, and before his current WWE role, he frequently worked as a part of a tag team
– variously named The Island Boyz, the Samoan Gangstas, and 3-Minute Warning – with his cousin Matt Anoa'i

Early life

Fatu was born in American Samoa, a member of the famous Anoa'i wrestling family. His mother, Vera, was the sister of Afa and Sika of the Wild Samoans, and his later Umaga gimmick would be compared to their "wildness".[3]
His two older brothers, Sam (better known as Tonga Kid and Tama) and
Solofa Jr. (better known as Rikishi), are also professional wrestlers who have achieved success of their own.

Raw (2006–2008)
Fatu re-debuted on the April 3, 2006 episode of Raw with a new
gimmick similar to that of Kamala and name.
Now called Umaga, the same name of the final and most painful part of the Samoan tattooing process,
meaning "the end", he was depicted as a destructive savage who could only be controlled by his
manager, Armando Alejandro Estrada

taken from wikipedia

here's a couple of website's an a video:

wiki.answers.com
What is the name of WWE superstar Umaga and is he always a savage or is he nice in reality

www.411mania.com
Keep Umaga a savage who doesn't speak English and has a translator. Build him back up
as a monster who beats people up and wins matches and wins titles, ...

politics.sgforums.com
One week after being destroyed by Umaga on RAW, Shawn Michaels will step into the ring with monster from Samoa in a singles match. Umaga’s manager, Armando Alejandro Estrada, gives Michaels respect regarding his illustrious career and WWE accomplishments, but warns him that he’s never faced anyone as dangerous as the Samoan Bulldozer.

“The Heartbreak Kid, a Legend, one of the all-time greats
…multi-time WWE Champion, pero [but] he’s
never faced a man, a savage, a beast, a killer like the man from the Isle of Samoa.

www.wwe.com
Following a gritty, physical encounter, John Cena derailed the
Samoan Bulldozer to not only retain the WWE Championship, but also serve Umaga
his first defeat. The face of Armando Estrada told the story as WWE fans witnessed the end of the savage’s nine-month period
without defeat – care of the fighting WWE Champion.
Just one year after one of the worst nights in Cena’s career, The Champ had the unenviable task of battling the Samoan Savage.
Despite the size disadvantage, the WWE Champion battled head-on with Umaga and went blow-for-blow with the monster.

peace be upon you

Both of my sons watch wrestling.

I understand that they are making a living wrestling, but to be called a savage and in the presence of millions of viewers/readers is out of the question. I think in this economy it is no limit to what people will do to make a buck, but me on the other hand I will never sink this low.

Blackicon Peace Peace...

When I heard JR yelling, I was like he's calling dude a savage. . . .a savage beast. . . .. My son was all entranced too. I said, "Hey man,
go take a shower. I'm about to turn this. Anytime people are calling people racist names, Daddy is going to change the channel. So his homeboys from next door came over. My little one was telling them about his favorite wrestler. They get all apt, and say "let's go next door". I know my son doesn't know how a savage aplies to Black folks. He hesistated to go, cause of what I just said. I told him I wasn't going to watch it anymore, in our house. If they are going to watch it, over there see you later. Of course, he left. He has to learn how to, whole heartedly, differentiate. So he'll respect his own decisions, righteously, or unrighteously, GOD willing.

Peace be upon you

what the **** is this??
I started watching the video but had to stop it at minute 3.

i understand your concern, but, with respect for your wife and kids, i will critisize as harshly the entire whole program. its sensationalism at its best. I dont need to hear the word savage to feel offended cause its implicit in the esthetics of the scene and the characters. Anybody open to be part of that staging is as guilty as the rest, that includes the comentators and the "actors"

I didn't watch the vid, but...

I have watched sooo much wrestling over the years. From
Bruno Sammartino to WWF on thru WWE. I have seen them
say everything except the N-word, and do everything except
lynch somebody.

Roddy Piper made his rep as an enforcer who eliminated
Rocky Johnson's career. Rocky Johnson is the father of
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, also known as Rocky Maiavia.
Peter Maiavia was a Tongan wrestler and is Rock's
grandfather. Piper used to come down the aisle during
Rocky's matches, jump in the ring and beat him from post to
post.

By the same token, Randy Savage put Ricky Steamboat out
of wrestling. Steamboat was a Hawaiian or Native American.
Savage used the same tactics on Steamboat that Piper did
on Rocky Johnson. Both Steamboat and Johnson were put
out of Vince McMahon's WWF that way. Obviously, McMahon
sent these two white wrestlers out to let the non-whites kno
who is boss. McMahon's organization is built upon racism. If
they resigned from wrestling because of catastrophic injuries
or stress or other factors, that let McMahon out of their
contracts.

Played up as the Ugandan giant, Kamala had spears and
shields painted on his chest. Rikishi had to wear an
obscenely ugly thong. The Iron Sheik, first role as an Iranian
and then as an Iraqi, wore stoo-pid boots that were curled at
the toes. Chief Jay Strongbow wore a traditional feathered
headress and wrestled like one of the three stooges; can't
really comment on his wrestling style, since so many of them
are marginal talents who get by on bluster and their ability
to draw a fan base.

Fijian Jimmy "Super Fly" Snuka was another one put out of
wrestling by Roddy, who busted a cocoanut over his head.

McMahon forced wrestlers of all nationalities to perform
vicious stunts and other maneuvers which cracked their ribs,
vertebrae, gave them concussions, ligament damage, etc. He
did this to make a profit. He continues to make a profit by
compelling these dumb lummoxes to try and top the last
pay-per-view performance. All because WWE is not a sport.
It is an exhibition and performers must do what their contracts
require them to do. I don't get mad at the wrestlers because
McMahon manipulates all of them. He forces them to wear
humiliating costumes or endanger their physical health. They
chose that profession, most likely believing 100% in their own
talents, but ended up being played like pawns by that billionaire
bloodsucker. McMahon made perfect template for Imperialism.

Wrestling is the most racist shit on television or cable, right
after FOX News.

That's wrestling...........I don't watch it but when I did or flip through the channels and come on to it they pretty much call every "bad guy" savage.

I hate that they have a black tag team called "Crime time" but since the back lash they have become "good guys" wrestling is in no way a show of intellect nor a political statement. It's just big men and women play fighting with some silly story line attached to it.

Nothing to get crazy over I think.

until we have afrikan owned networx ensuring positive afrikan imagery or anything even a little empowering 4 our people we cant afford 2 let this brainwash enter our psyche, let alone the minds of our children. it is far 2 damaging.

i beg u all Family, find something more constructive 2 do with your time - our time

I didn't even watch the whole thing either, just flew it up here, GOD willing. This match was from January. I seen I one site they had been calling the dude, a savage, for a gang of years, since way back in 06'. The first time I heard savage, I thought this was some kind of anomaly. Until I read on wikipedia it was the brotha's "gimic". WOW!

Peace be upon you

I watched WWF since before I could walk every Sunday with my daddy and loved it… children are really impressionable Family. They believe everything they see, I did. This Samoan wrestler received the same wage the Poor little defenceless lady gets as well as all the other actors. It’s all an act. He willingly takes part in promoting such a crass Stereotype. Then all of a sudden Captin Krakkka comes to the poor little lady’s rescue to kick the savage’s behind …good grief …Family throw the TV out the window please

Brother Bob said it very poignantly:

Today they say that we are free,
Only to be chained in poverty.
Good God, I think it's illiteracy
It's only a machine that makes money.

The TV is also a machine that makes money … for our oppressors…and apparently they are bugging them now. Ever read Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell? Remember the telescreen? I advise you to just bin the TV, throw it in the trash…it could be the healthiest thing you’ll ever do.
