Among other conscious sisters,i don't know if any of sharazad ali (blackman's guide)1-7 videos has ever been posted before so i searched but couldn't find it. She has touched on some very critical valid points on why woman play some parts in destroying the black man just to please her master and that in most cases fails the union of the family.she is n.o.i but but i'm not looking at her religion.i have tried to post her video(embed as you tube has it)but maybe i'm doing it wrong.the struggle needs more woman to peel layers and start renewing ourselves to renew our men.

Also Sister, don't forget to visit the Queens United forum.

It would be wonderful if you could make a post about Sharazad Ali there too so that the whole of sistaz can reason there, too.

Sister, your point about Sisters helping destroy Brothers just to please the master (if you don't mind me plucking this particular jem out of your above post) is a subject i have been pondering for years, as it relates to how Sisters participate fully in defining Black manhood (what makes and does not make a Brother). When i used to subteach highschool, i often would challenge sisters to liberate their minds, then challenge the Brothers to take a critical look at the narrow ways in which we define what makes a man, INSISTING that they seek mental liberation as the exclusive expression of manhood within the context of being dominated, oppressed, and exploitated by the master. By choosing liberate their minds and "unchaining the others," over what they've been indoctrinated by white society to view as the proper/natural sexual orientation (heterosexuality, with its associated, disturbing social behaviors) and its devestating impact on the self and the females in our lives, Brothers can direct their efforts on getting our people out of this jam, answering an Ancestral calling that has been drowned out by ignoring our Ancestal obligation to "turn back the ships."

      Greetings, Sis.

In response to your topic about Sharazad Ali, I must say that while many of her points do have validity, she does not strike me as one who presents information to the collective without ulterior motives. I opine that it was much moreso her loyalty to her fanbase (mostly black males) than her loyalty to the quest of restoring the honor, respect, balance to diasporan relationships that she was concerned in writing and promoting this book. We tend to think objectively about economics in the case of many authors and this case should not at all be exempt.

Of course what I am offering are mere opinions/interpretations, yet I must say that Sharazad Ali's book "A Black Man's Guide to Understanding the Black Woman" is not without information that is counterproductive to the quest to restore balance and harmony between African man and African woman.

I am a firm believer that the biggest male chauvinists in the black church are black women. Many of the views that Ali expressed in that book reminds me of that same theme. Male chauvinism/female devaluation via women. Just as it is reality that black white supremists exist, it is also reality that female male chauvinists exist. Just becaus some might drop gems in the process and possibly rock head wraps does not mean that they are not spokeswomen for male chauvinism.

In the very same light, so many of us are quick to hear some facts and quickly jump on the bandwagon of whoever is presenting it. Have you ever seen some of these so called master teacher-leaders who have 90% exploitation and b.s.? That 10% factual base is often enough to woo us. From the outside looking in, we can easily say, "How could people get caught up in DAT crap?" Yet, for those on the inside those who are following with their minds and spirits bound to the leaders, it is not at all that simple. I think that we have to be quicker to exercise the ability to think critically and slower to jump on the first ship that looks like it's going to take us to where we need to go. In addition, I think that we have to be better about not allowing one's popularity in the community or one's title suspend our ability to think critically.

As you say, the struggle needs more sisters who know what is going on and renewal of the African man/woman is necessary for true. At the same time, we need the clarity and the honestythat it takes to see and to, when necessary, call out the promotion of guidance that is divisive and/or counterproductive so that we can tear it down as we continue to build.
