Welcome to Painted Word!!!!! - showcasing the best of British, African, Caribbean and American plays. Set in a cosy bar in Brixton, we perform play-readings of some the best plays ever written that rarely get produced in England. And of course, stay and socialise after with the best in old and new soul, hip hop and reggae - with a touch of Lionel and Lenny! This is the best way to meet like-minded people eager for a cultural experience in a relaxed and informal setting.

The play this month is 'The Other Woman' by Kofi Agyemang.

A new play by one of Britain's leading black playwrights - a black baby given up for adoption is taken in by a white family. Twenty-six years later, now engaged and pregnant herself, she's taken on an emotional journey as she is forced to consider her loyalties, upbringing and family roots. Will she reconcile her past and what will she have to sacrifice along the way? Written with humour, compassion and truth, this is a heart-warming story about
family.

As well as the performance, there will be the Painted Word Bazaar!! This is a new addition to the event and consists of a selection of stalls with unique products and artwork for sale. Our exhibition this month will be 'Beauty Is In The Eye of The Beholder' , a selection of mixed media works by Greenwich based artist Cindy Soso.

Please forward this on to everyone you think will be interested in Painted Word. Thank-you and hopefully see you there!!

Directions: turn right out of Brixton tube, keep straight for about 10mins, Jamm is at the corner of Loughbourgh Rd on the right
