International Dateline, an Australian based TV news magazine program, has produced two documentaries focusing on West Papua.

In January of last year a group of journalists and human rights investigators, smuggled video equipment into West Papua to document the suffering of the people of West Papua. The film documents the atrocities being committed against them by both the Indonesian military and Islamic fundamentalist militias. The Indonesian government which invaded the western half of the Black Island of New Guinea 44 years ago, does not allow the international media into the area. This film was made at great risk to those West Papuans who participated in it's making as they desperately try to get the word out about their struggle against genocide and colonial occupation.

The recent decision by the Bush administration through Condo "sleaza" Rice's State Department to re-arm the Indonesian military, has meant that the killing, raping, mutilations, and resource theft in West Papua will be intensified.

The second film focuses on the Black Island of Vanuatu which has supported the liberation struggle of their brothers and sisters in West Papua. There is a growing Pan-Melanesian Movement in the South Pacific
and the tiny island country of Vanuatu is leading it. These are some courageous brothers and sisters that you will not here about on CNN or other US mainstream media. Both films present a powerful and inspiring view of
of our Melanesian brothers and sisters as they fight for the right to control their own destiny.
