CUBA! AFRICA! REVOLUTION! SATURDAY, DECEMBER 15TH, 2007 AT 7:00 PM 5274 W. Pico Blvd. Suite 203, Los Angeles Contact: (323) 936-7266 In January of 1961 upon hearing of the assassination of Patrice Lumumba, Fidel Castro, Che Guevara and the Cuban revolutionary government, reacted with alarm that this was the beginning of an attempt by western imperialism to turn back the tide of African independence. Shortly thereafter, Cuba began it's "African Odyssey", aiding various African liberation movements by providing the necessary technical and military assistance for Algeria, Guinea Bissau, Angola, Mozambique, Namibia, and South Africa, made the difference between defeat and victory. One such victory was the battle of Cuito Carnavale by Angola's MPLA and Cuban forces over the U.S. and Israeli-backed Apartheid South African army. A 2 hour documentary, produced in April of 2007 and never before seen in the United States, CUBA! AFRICA! REVOLUTION!, is the most informed film made to date about Cuba's heroic and unselfish contribution to the fight against colonialism and racist oppression in Africa. With rare footage of some of Africa's most prominent revolutionaries, the film profiles the people who were at the center of bringing to an end Western Europe's direct political domination over Africa. Kwame Nkrumah, Sekou Touré, Agostinho Neto, Samora Machel and Amilcar Cabral, who's theoretical and revolutionary genius help set into motion the demise of Portugal's colonial empire in Africa, are all seen interfacing and planning with Fidel Castro, Che Guevara and other Cuban revolutionaries.
