Today, Saturday April 19, we’re here in front of the United States
Embassy in Mexico City demanding the freedom of Mumia Abu-Jamal-- a
political prisoner for 26 long years. That’s longer than some of us have
been alive.

We send our heartfelt greetings to all of you who are marching in
Philadelphia today despite all the police and neo-nazi hostility.

For us, Mumia Abu-Jamal is a brother, friend, teacher and compañero who
shares our struggle for a world of justice and freedom. Some of us have
recently been political prisoners ourselves and most of us work to get
our political prisoners out of the concentration camps of Mexico. We
know he’s with us in this, and we’re with him, too.

We have something in common with the State. We plainly see the struggle
of Mumia Abu-Jamal for the liberation of the African American people,
his history with the Black Panthers, his affinity with the MOVE
organization, his revolutionary journalism. For the State, this history
a reason to blot out his voice, end his life, stamp out his example of
resistance. But for us, this history inspires us to raise our voices,
block the empire’s plans that threaten our lives, and deepen our
resistance.

No honest person can fail to see the crimes of the police, the
prosecution, and the courts against Mumia Abu-Jamal. The recent court
decision is one more example of this criminal behavior against him.

We won’t stand by and let a murderous government bury Mumia Abu-Jamal
alive or kill him by lethal injection. We want him free. NOW! We’ll help
get him out the same way we’ll get Ignacio del Valle and all the
political prisoners of Mexico out—by building strong movements to force
the State to turn them loose.

FREE MUMIA! FREE ALL POLITICAL PRISONERS!
