For three years now, several organizations have come together to do mutually supportive Kwanzaa celebrations to ensure authenticity of practice and to promote greater unity. Below is a list of this year’s efforts. Please support them and take the Nguzo Saba seriously…



Thursday, December 27th, Kujichagulia-SelfDetermination

The Peoples Organization for Progress hosts their Kwanzaa at Waset Kommuniversity, 271 So. 9th St . , Newark at 6p.m. Call 973-801-0001 for information.



Friday, December 28th, Ujima-Collective Work & Responsibility

United Mothers & Men Initiative hosts their Kwanzaa at the Mary McLeod Bethune Ctr.,

140 MLK Drive in Jersey City at 7p.m. Call 201-779-7356 for information.



Sunday, December 30th, Nia-Purpose

REFAL will host its Kwanzaa at Waset Kommuniversity at 3p.m. Call 973-489-0660 for information.



Tuesday, January 1st, Imani-Faith

The New Black Panther Party will hosts its Kwanzaa at Waset at 7p.m. Call 201-602-0780…



All of the events are free. Participants are welcome to contribute dishes and make donations. Performing artists are especially welcome to offer their talents as well…Remember, Kwanzaa is from December 26-January 1st!



Finally, I want to apologize to anyone who has not heard from me thru this medium (email) in recent weeks. I am having some personal dislocation issues as a consequence of my shooting this past summer that I won’t get into here. I was just online looking for Kwanzaa celebrations in my area yesterday. I'm in South Jersey and there is nothing within 50 miles from where I live. Closest is Philly but I hate parking in the big city and lugging 2 babies. Sucks...
