It will be keynoted by the blazing attorney at war, Malik Zulu Shabazz, national chairman of the New Black Panther Party and co-convener of the Million Man March 10th anniversary mobilization. Admission to both of these events is free. In the wake of the police killing of Brian Fillmore, an unarmed civilian, the Party will continue its calls to have the Township of Irvington empanel a civilian review board as was mandated by its city council several years ago and continue its call for the firing of Newark police officer Thomas Duarte who was responsible for the killing of Michael Newkirk. “There will be nothing frivolous or entertaining about the work of the New Black Panther Party during this Black History Month,” explained Zayid Muhammad, the party’s lead official in the Newark area. “Standing on the shoulders of our boldest ancestors, we intend to raise the volume and seize the time, just as they did before us.” For more information on these efforts and any other aspects of the work of the New Black Panther Party, call 201-602-0780. # HOLD THE LINE!
