THE NEW BLACK PANTHER PARTY
NATIONAL MINISTRY OF CULTURE
PO BOX 25332, NEWARK, NJ 07101
201-602-0780
October 28, 2008
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Elections Self Defense,
Zulu Shabazz at Town Hall Meeting,
Gye Nyame

On Wednesday, October 29th, the New Black Panther Party will host an important pre-election screening of the moving documentary American Blackout. The film details how both the 2000 and 2004 national elections were stolen by isolating and discounting Black and Latino votes in Florida and in Ohio respectively, and how outspoken former Atlanta-based congresswoman Cynthia McKinney was “sacked” or “de-elected” through loopholes in the Georgia primary system that many feel violates both the letter and the spirit of the Voters Rights Act. Pathetically, a federal judge upheld the legality of the loophole.

Ironically, McKinney, formerly a lifelong Democrat, has reemerged as the Green Party’s candidate for the Presidency.
Leading up to this election, featuring Barack Obama’ s historic run, several hundred thousand voters have already been purged from voter rolls in Ohio and Florida, the two states who staged the highjacking of the Black vote in 2004 and 2000, as well as in Nevada, Michigan , Colorado, Louisiana and Georgia.
Those purged or having difficulty registering are again predominantly Black and Latino voters who are likely to vote for Obama.
“Nobody is talking about this,” exclaimed Zayid Muhammad. “The die is being cast to make sure that Barack Obama is not elected.”
This special showing and teach-in will take place at Waset Kommuniversity at 6:30p.m…

On Monday, November 3rd, Black Solidarity Day, the day before the historic election, march and rally in defense of the Black Vote! The New Black Panther Party is initiating a united march ‘In Defense of The Black Vote,’ with hope of preparing new young voters for possible corruption in this historic election.
Other participating organizations include the Peoples Organization for Progress, the Street Warriors, Stop Shooting. The list is still growing.
Participants will assemble at 11 a.m at Broad and Market and will march to the federal building and then to City Hall steps around noon.
“We especially hope this call gains traction in those states facing controversy as a consequence of massive purges of voter rolls. We are not going to be standing by idly and watching our voting rights fleeced again,”explained Zayid Muhammad, the Party’s national minister of culture.
“This is something that should be coming from elected Black leadership around the country. Pathetically, it’s not,” he finished.
For more information, please call 201- 602- 0780.

Looking ahead…
The Battle for the Soul of Harlem continues!…
On Sunday, November 9th, in response to reckless and senseless attack on the Harlem Day Parade, the New Black Panther Party is hosting an important Town Hall meeting.
It will take place at the historic Barbara Ann Teer National Black Theatre at 3p.m.
The event’s theme is In Defense of Self-Defenseefending Black Harlem By Any Means Necessary.
Some guests includes Councilman Charles Barron of Brooklyn, himself a former Panther, Imam Talib AbdurRasheed of the Mosque of the Islamic Brotherhood, elder New Afrikan statesman Herman Ferguson and his wife Iyaluua Ferguson, and warrior woman Viola Plummer of the December 12th Movement.
Malik Zulu Shabazz, the Party’s national chairman and attorney at war, will make a special appearance.
Admission is free, but the event is afundraiser to help with the legal defense of the five men arrested protecting their community during the attack on the march.
The National Black Theatre is located at 126th and 5th in Harlem.
For more information, please call 917-420-8662…

The Battle for the Soul of the South Ward is coming to a head. After hosting a powerful youth and community rally on September 30th in the struggle to prevent an unwanted liquor store from disrupting the community, the Bergen Street coalition which includes the New Black Panther Party, has learned that there will be a hearing on the matter of this controversial business before Newark’s Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) Board on Monday, November 17th at 5:30p.m. in Newark City Council chambers, located in Newark City Hall 920 Broad Street.
Rodriguez, the prospective owner will likely be heard first, then representatives from our community will be heard.
This is a very legal technical process.
“It may require more than one hearing,”according to the community’s attorney J.Edward Waller.
For more information, please call Carolyn Kelly- Shabazz of the First Class Championship Center immediately at 973- 318-7013…

It’s time for Gye Nyame, the New Afrikan alternative to Thanksgiving!
On Friday, November 28th, the New Black Panther Party will host a special Gye Nyame ceremony in honor of the 60th birth anniversary year of its founder and creator, the immortal Khallid Abdul Muhammad.
This special event will from 6-10p.m. at the National Black Theatre.
Gye Nyame has been faithfully observed by the party’s national ministry of culture and other supporting organizations for eight straight years. Gye Nyame, which is means in ‘None greater than God the Creator,’ is an ingathering feast which honors Black family and national ancestors.
This year’s ceremony will include a retrospective Khallid Abdul Muhammad and an appreciation of new ancestor Barbara Ann Teer.

The Newark chapter of the New Black Panther Party has a new meeting time. The chapter now meets every Wednesday at Waset Kommuniversity, 271 So. 9th Street in Newark at 6:30p.m.
