The Nicholas Naquan Heyward Jr. Memorial Foundation will hold its 14th annual Day of Remembrance on Saturday August 23rd at 1pm

Nicholas Naquan Heyward, Jr. was a 13-year-old honor student when a housing police officer shot and killed him while Nicholas was playing cops and robbers in a stairwell in Gowanus Houses. The policeman who killed him was exonerated by the District Attorney and never faced any charges.

The Annual Day of Remembrance for Nicholas Naquan Heyward, Jr. is a day that commemorates the life and honors the memory of young Nicholas Jr. on his birthday at the park that was named after him in Boerum Hill Gowanus in Brooklyn. It is an annual community event that Nicholas Jr.'s father began the year after his son was killed, and which the Foundation now helps organize.

To help the Nicholas Naquan Heyward Jr. Memorial Foundation bring the spirit of joy and community to the children in the Boerum Hill community, please join us at this year’s Day oF Remembrance and/or donate food, toys, or funds by contacting Nicholas Heyward, Sr.
