 Tribute to Dr. John Hendrik Clarke
Eleven years ago, Dr. John Henrik Clarke made his transition this month. I will always remember his transition. It occurred during the trial of Pagones v. Maddox,et.al., a defamation trial, in Dutchess County Supreme Court. We all have great memories of him. He was a great mentor. It is our fortune to have been living during his life. All Blacks should take a moment out on Sunday, July 19 at 3:00 p.m. We will assemble at the Schomburg Library, corner of 135th Street and Malcolm X Blvd., in Harlem. There will be many tributes to his life. Speakers will be in attendance from around the world. Sister Sybil Clarke, his queen, will receive them. While Michael Jackson may have been the “King of Pop,” Dr. Clarke was the “King of Knowledge.” The “King of Pop” stands on the shoulders of the “King of Knowledge.” We are all indebted for his sacrifice, his acquisition of knowledge and his critical thinking skills. Our lives would have been incomplete without his contributions. I hope to see you Sunday.
