BLACK SOLIDARITY DAY TURNS 40! RALLY FOR ASSATA AND SUNDIATA! On Monday,
November 2nd, observe the 30th anniversary of the liberation of Assata
Shakur and the 40th anniversary of Black Solidarity Day with a special
unity rally for Assata and Sundiata at the Federal Bldg in Newark at 12
noon. This rally will be hosted by the New Black Power Movement which
includes the New Black Panther Party, Frontline Artists and a host of
other organizations and figures. The federal building is located at
Broad and Court Streets, downtown Newark. On November 2nd, 1979, Assata
Shakur, then incarcerated at Clinton Correctional Facility, was sprung
from prison by heroic participants in the Black Liberation Army, the
Underground Railroad of the 1970s. She later found asylum in Cuba where
she still lives to this day. Her codefendant, Sundiata Acoli ,comes up
for parole in 2010
