Omali Yeshitela at Harlem Book Fair (7/23) and Think Cafe (7/24)

Omali Yeshitela at Harlem Book Fair (7/23) and Think Cafe (7/24)

Omali Yeshitela's new book, Omali Yeshitela Speaks, will be featured at this year’s Harlem Book Fair, taking place Saturday, July 23rd from 11am to 7pm. Look for the Burning Spear Uhuru Publications booth on W. 135th Street between Adam Clayton Powell Blvd. and Lenox (on the downtown side of the street toward Lenox in front of a school yard). Chairman Omali will speak from the main author's stage from 3:30 to 3:45 p.m.

Come by to get your copy of the book and have Omali Yeshitela sign it on the spot.

Omali Yeshitela Speaks features 28 of the Uhuru Movement leader's most powerful presentations from the past fifteen years, including the full text of "The wolf and the double-edged blade," sampled by Dead Prez on their album Let's Get Free. In this long-awaited collection, the Yeshitela emerges as the foremost revolutionary thinker of our time. Carrying on the legacy of Marcus Garvey, Malcolm X and Kwame Nkrumah, Yeshitela presents his theory of African Internationalism though sharp, witty political analysis of recent world events and African people’s growing struggle for justice.

Chairman Omali will also be speaking Sunday, July 24th, 2-5pm, at Think Café, 733 Franklin Avenue (between Park and Sterling) in Brooklyn, NY. Take the 2,3,4, or 5 train to Franklin Ave. He will address the issue of horizontal violence in the African community. For more information e-mail reparations@aol.com

---------------------------------------

"What Omali Yeshitela presents in this book is 'African Internationalism.' What is at the core of Yeshitela’s speeches is an all-out assault on the White Empire…and its various neocolonies, whether in Africa, or Latin America (or among the American bourgeoisie).

"These are fighting words, and as such, some will be upset with his opinions and speeches. So be it. The condition of Black America, and indeed, every community of African life, is so grave, so dire, so horrendous, that to move folks from quiet acquiescence to action, will take some upsetting."

- Mumia Abu Jamal, award-winning journalist, death row inmate framed by Philadelphia police, author of We Want Freedom: A Life in the Black Panther Party
