| Supporting Afrikan Farmers This is a continuance of Saturday, June 10th Family Chat. Please share your opinions about this topic whether you were present on Saturday or not. Let's build! Afrikan Farmers 1.Why are they important? 2.Why are they being treated so bad by the USDA? 3. How can we help them out? 4. How can we increase the number of farmers? Saturday's chat synopsis: One thing mentioned that we can do to support Afrikan farmers is to buy from the already existing Afrikan farmers. This will also prevent us from putting money in the pockets of the grocery stores that are only out for profits and don't care about the People. We can support them also by trying to donate to them on the side for whatever farming equipment they need. There was also alot of discussion about solar water irrigation systems to improve food productivity. I'm hoping that Wisdom2See will provide some information on this since he knows about it. It was also asked what ways we can bring information about solar power to Afrikan people both in Afrika and the Diaspora. Greetings Everyone In thought about the Assata chat nite discussion, One of the things I thought to be essential is that Black Farmers are crucial to our dealing with the so called "energy crisis." Venezuela and other countries have proven that alternative fuels are possible to implement on a national level. Even here in the u.s., natural sources such as corn have said to be a replacement for the oil that is so heavily depended upon. The other thing that I found to be interesting was the statement that was made that the "crisis" is not just about energy, it is also an issue of food. That there is the coming of a food shortage that is not being discussed. We who want to be prepared for such a crisis may need to look to alternatives such as buying food directly from Black Farmers, as mentioned by Rev_Student. Medase pa, (Thanx Much), Mahmoud S for initiating the continuation of a discussion that is so vital to our survival.
