That fukkked up caucasian standard of beauty, Those pictures remind me of when I went to see "The Children of Uganda" the other night-ALL of the Afrikan women&children had wigs or weaves.

It's pitiful....

When you are wearing a weave to imitate your oprressor it is a problem. Even Assata made mention of this in the book. They are not rocking nappy weaves or fros. They are intentionally trying to imitate white people. They Africans, just colonized Africans. Its a problem when you look like a mistel show and straight clownish like they do in those pics.

I too was disappointed with the weave and wigs, but I mainly posted this to show the wedding ceremony and the traditions. The beautiful dresses etc.

C'mon people.

Regardless of the hair style, the overall wedding was nice. A good representation of a traditional Afrikan wedding.

Not all Afrikans look alike or have nappy/coarse hair.

Even though it may seem that the women had weave and such in their hair, not all Afrikans have flat noses, brown eyes(especially albinos,or those of a lighter complexion),and nappy/coarse hair.I once knew a East afrikan women who was dark black but had natural green eyes. She said it was because of her grandmother, who was albino.

My opinion as well. I was disappointed in the whole "go home early to get ready for church" but I was much more impressed by the stay of tradition. These pictures were more inspiring than troublesome.

So the Igbo wedding isn't recognosied as being legal? Other than that, Beautiful pics, and the headwear covered most of the weave so I ain't tripping. Asante for the post Sis!

PS- Don't let the weave monster take away from the beauty of "BLACK LOVE"

No one said all Africans had nappy hair. But these women clearly are afected by Eurocentricism. I think its funny that on this board many of the topics are unrealistic for making a change that can begin like tommorow (repatriation, jail system, revolution, etc). Cutting the perms out of our heads is something we can do today. Why do we not stress the things we can do easily like now?

But people rather talk with a passion about the things they most likely will never accomplish.

Take the mess out of ya heads! There is nothing Afrikan about weaves, period! It can make a beautiful outfit look buffonish!
