After today I never knew that there are some African people who believe their better than you because they come from Africa. I’m currently seeing a Black woman who comes from Liberia. I met her family today and her family were mad as hell that I was a black American. They lecture me about how appalling Blacks in Americans are, and how were not united. They told me that I’m not a true Black because I don’t know what part of Africa I come from. So I told them “maybe I would know what part of Africa I come from if, your ancestors didn’t help the white man capture my ancestors…so how you can look down on me…. I’m black like you….” They continue to lecture me about how Black Americans worships the white man culture. They were very blunt with me they showed me how some African people view Black Americans. I tried to explain to them that the white man wants to see blacks divided…….. Today has changed my view on something………. I now know I still have some Uncle Tom symptoms …I say that because I fought with my black brothers and sisters over something very foolish…I was a victim of the divide & conquer design. How come some blacks feel like this.....i'm Baffle

After today I realize that “DIVIDE & CONQUER” is a pretty good strategy...........
I saw a dead bird flyin through a broken sky
Wish I could flap wings and fly away
To where black kings and Ghana stay
So I could get on my flesh right away
But that'll be the day when it's peace
When my gat don't need to spray
NATURE OF THE THREAT

I've experienced this many times. For whatever reasons, there are many Africans that don't care for us. Now back in the day I'd tell them "Don't get mad at us because your ancestors missed the boat" but years of gathering wisdom through life experience has taught me how bad of an assessment that is. You know what though........it's just further programming. It's not like Massa was only training us in the methods of self-hate. A few of them stayed on the continent so that while they were breakin us down mentally, physically and emotionally in the states, they could continue the training on the Africans who managed to stay on the continent. SO when we ask why they hate us, we need to look at the common denominator........
Wasn't it Liberia that was created as a place for Africans in amerkraka (america) to return to. I could be wrong, but if not you need to lecture them on their history and that countries relations with US here in "Divided States". That is totally discouraging for our people here. We got to teach the whole world just now. Liberia (liberate) will soon turn to what ever there word is for Assimilate. I could be wrong for this one but, I would request to go to that families houseas often as possible just to prove them wrong about blanket statments like that. I would feel obligated to do so. I've come accoss many of Africans be it from Ghana, Senegal, Guinee, ect. some do have their misconseptions about the Black man in AmeKRAKA, but to have to sit down an damn near spit in my face about these things, NEVA HAPPENED. Maby its because I'm 6'7" 230 lbs, but still thats crazy
I'm really sorry you had to go through that. I too date a woman from Liberia and the experience has been the complete opposite from yours. Now granted, there was that "getting to know you period", but after that, we've been like family!
I would hope that you do not judge all African people (or all Liberians) on that experience. I've known them to be very beautiful people!

Uhuru Brother,
The caucasianization of the Afrikan perception of self has led to that negative concept. I had a African Professor expressed the very same thing to me. How the Afrikan male in America is protrayed globally has also contributed to the perception too. It so sad to see willy lynch still thriving in the heart of our people

I agree with everyone here. Unity has to be restored for our people.Europeanism has severely torn apart the unity we should have. Do not let the negative perception that Africans have of African-Americans,because it is not their fault they see us in that way.
All of us may not live to see the higher accomplishment of an African Empireso strong and powerful, as to compel the respect of mankind, but we in our life-time can so work and act as to make the dream a possibility within another generation.-Marcus Garvey
I am all too familiar with receiving this same treatment. My ex boyfriend is Jamaican and his mother did not like me at all........at first, because she didn't like her son dating an amerikkkan woman period, especially a black amerikkkan, and all of the reasons my ex-boyfriend gave me made me angry because I felt like, "who are you to talk, its not like the massa didn't fvck up kingston while on his way to mess us up further in his mission to Native American terroritory". Man oh man I was mad, because if one people cannot talk it's Jamaicans, no pun intended, but there is a lot of slave mentality there, just as here. My ex-boyfriend wouldn't date any black female unless she was light skin with long hair. I use to pull his card about this and his answer was "it's a complex we have in Jamaica", so I use to tell him "then break it, starting with yourself".
Eventually his mom warmed up to be when she realized I was not that stereotype she had in her mind about black women in the states.
It's a shame some feel this way, but just as we were brainwashed, so were they being that I love all of my people regardless of where they come from. I have several friends from Ghana and Nigeria, and they have expressed how they feel as well, but I've had patience with them and have explained the distortion, and it shed light on their views.
One of my African brothers, actually believed that if a black american is light skin then they are considered white.
Have you ever seen this movie called "Needful Things"? If not, rent or purchase that movie. Don't pay any mind to the caucasion actors, just look at the message and then compare it to the state of our people both here and abroad.
It's deep.

"Cowardice asks the question: is it safe? Expediency asks the question: is it political? Vanity asks the question: is it popular? But conscience asks the question: is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor political, nor popular - but one must take it simply because it is right."
