Tracing Your Roots Through DNA

I've been studying my family history A LOT recently. It is because of this I am considering taking a DNA test to discover my specific Afrikan heritage. I have always known I was of Afrikan ancestry, but I want to sing the songs of my region, learn the language of my region, know the history of my region, and VISIT my region. Would you be willing to take a DNA test to discover which region(s) your ancestors lived in Afrika?

i saw a documental about this. Some of them got good results an dthey visited their region, but some were traced back to european regions n they were so shocked... but well thats just what i saw, i dun really know how it works. I would like to take it too but i guess if you are too mixed the results will be confusing, coz they do it by comparin ur DNA to samples all over the world...

I also wonder how accurate these dna tracings are. There are people who traced their dna more than one time and gotten different results.

So for the black person who's dna is traced back to Europe, I wouldn't feel too sad, it probably is not accurate besides to me that still doesn't take away the fact that they have Afrikan in their blood just from the amount of melinin and the African facial features. DNA might say one thing but your soul says another.

You can either take the test for your maternal lineage or your paternal lineage ($299 each).

If you buy both tests it's $550.

I agree Kweku. I find much of these dna tracings to be suspect. Me and this one sista was watching "The Real Eve" the other day and we both seen how white supremacy bias-ness has played a part on the documentary. At first they were on point with the first human going back to Ethiopia but as far as how humanity started to "evolve" into different races, you could definitly see the b.s. and when they finally got to the white race, and said something like how too much melinin or vitamin D isn't good for the skin...the sista was like now that's B.S lol. But that's funny because black people could stand in the sun all day and we'll just get darker. White people have to put on sun screen lotion to protect themselves from skin cancer. So too much vitamin D isn't good for who?

The point is whenever some european scientist comes with anything, we should always be suspectful because we never know their intentions.

Which is why I wouldn't go through any Krakkka testing site! I would go through AfricanAncestry.com (Afrikan owned and operated!)

For me personally, it doesn't matter. It's a krakka created concept that black folk are following. For instance, I wouldn't go to a krakka who claims to be an initiated Yoruba Babalawo in order to find out my "lineage" either. I only want to mess with a black person practicing a system that we created in order to find out my lineage. That's just me personally.

Ya'll can do it however ya'll want to. I ayne madatchya. I'm just speaking for myself. In my opinion it's a scam. I don't acknowledge any krakka in my "lineage", but they will. That's unacceptable to me. I have no krakka ancestors or ancestresses according to my understanding and as I would later discover, according to the understanding of indigenous African spiritual systems as well.

If they go back through my male line, it's possible that they will eventually get to a male krakka rapist. Our dna is comprised of more than just a straight line through fathers only on the male side or through mothers only on the female side. Divination will deal with a "circularage" as opposed to a "lineage." Your father is comprised of his mother and father. Your mother is comprised of her mother and father. Regardless of what krakka "science" says there are elements that are passed on from each that their "science" cannot account for. I gotta roll with my folk.

We're partially in agreement. I do realize the power of Divination. I also do, however, believe that science is here for a reason and I definately don't think that all things non spiritual are scams, ya dig? As far as Krakkkas being in my family...I already know I have a Great Great Grandfather who was half white. From what I understand, he was a product of rape. So, I'm not worried about anyone tellin' me I have white blood in me. I believe Divination is a beautiful thing, but science, I believe that is a valid tool as well.
