Dear Friend:

I recently spoke on the House Floor about the $21 billion missing from
the rebuild Iraq fund. As I stated on the House Floor, some of those
funds were shipped to Baghdad in suitcases filled with $100 bills. As a
result of questions that I posed to Secretary Rumsfeld and the Pentagon
Comptroller, we now know that the Pentagon has spent $20 billion in an
attempt to make its computers talk to each other. At the beginning of
his tenure, Rumsfeld admitted that the Pentagon can't "track" $2.3
trillion dollars, but hastened to add that the United States could
afford that and more. Finally, I recently submitted an amendment to the
Pentagon funding bill to stop its purchases of Tamiflu as long as
Rumsfeld is Defense Secretary and owns stock in the Tamiflu company.

There was a time when these questions would be routine: a part of the
normal oversight of the Executive Branch that Congress is charged with.
But nowadays, too few Members of Congress are asking any of the tough
questions that the American people deserve answers to.

I will not stop asking the tough questions and I will not abdicate my
responsibility of oversight. But I need your support in order to stay
in Congress, asking the tough questions.

The district I'm seeking to represent is a democratic performing
district--yes, Georgia implemented a Tom DeLay mid-decennial
redistricting and I have new territory to cover in my current campaign.
That also means that the Primary Election is--the primary election! I
need your help now--to overcome my two Democratic opponents who are
running against me. I also have a Republican opponent, but I have to
win the Primary on Tuesday in order to face her in November.

That's why I need your help now.

This will be my last solicitation for help before Tuesday's election.
We must have a massive presence on the streets of my district on
election day, especially in the new areas, and that's why I need your
help now!

If you have already given as much as you can give, please pass this on
to your family and friends and ask them to help. I thank you for your
help.

If you have not yet given, this is the last solicitation that will help
us make a difference before election day on Tuesday, July 18th.

It's hot in Georgia and we need to feed, ice, water, t-shirt, pamphlet,
gas up, and otherwise encourage our volunteers. Ours has been a
volunteer effort, including the website that will process your e-donations.
