A Note On Violence

Greetings Brethren:

As the world turns on an axis of Money and Power humankind suffers from the dream of "I did it." Thus without true knowledge of the Creator the world is a sad place of Dog eat Dogs and each other. Violence and Hate looms on the horizon and around every corner. Lying is the norm and humankind have lost, discarded and rejected basic principles of decency, respect and integrity.

Our youth as taught by the irresponsible people that are supposed to be mature have totally rejected authority and move like lower animals with a shallow thinking ability. Meanwhile the powers at be continue the ungodly quest for Money and Power and Preachers have entered the vanguard of this Money and Power Game. What has resulted is the Destruction of Christianity because a Godly Preacher is harder to find than a Black Pearl in a Crack-House.

As the leadership of the Church has gone to Rot so have the multitudes. Meanwhile they follow these Lost Shepherds who don't want to found by God. As they search and destroy for Money and lust for the flesh the world will soon be Judged. Pay-Day is coming for the righteous and the unrighteous will also get their just rewards. The line of righteous will not be crowded however there will be room made for the multitudes of the unrighteous in their quest for eternal damnation.

BLACK ON BLACK VIOLENCE: MURDER

The alarming rate of Black on Black crime, especially murder continues to escalate. Black people need unity in order to survive. But how can Blacks have unity when Blacks are killing each other like flies? This evident self-hatred that involves the murder of each other is a tragic reality of the Black experience in North America.

It is for sure that oppression and the subtle socialization process has caused an abnormal reaction in the Black community. This abnormal reaction of Black on Black crime and murder can best be related to a mental health issue. Therefore, to make some sense out of why Black people kill each other the Black community needs to develop a scientific methodology to deal with the problem.

As you know, many social scientists estimate that 90-100 million Black people died at the hands of the Europeans during the slave trade. Also, after slavery Black people went through another era that saw the mass murder of Blacks. This reign of terror was known as "The Vale of Tears" when Black people (mostly Black males) were lynched, brutally beaten, cut, shot, mutilated and literally burned alive by White people sick with racism and hatred for the former slave whose labor had virtually built America.

So with a legacy of death at the hands of slave masters and their children, Blacks should be trying to stay alive. But since we have a problem of killing each other, many Blacks must have some type mental disorder. My leading advisor Southwest Willie immediately stepped forward and said "There you go again Carl, claiming Black people are crazy. But, White people claim that the growing problem of violence is a "public health emergency," especially since youth violence has spread to the suburbs and also includes White youth. But young Blacks between 15 and 19 are the leading victims of murder by firearms and at the hands of other Blacks.

There is also another very interesting note concerning the White communities attempts at understanding this problem. The Atlanta Center for Disease Control has also got involved in trying to define urban violence and Black on Black murder. In fact I read recently that the CDC (The Department of Injury Control) is developing a national plan for the control of injury and violence."

As Southwest Willie concluded his statements, I began to wonder. Why would the CDC and the medical community suddenly become so concerned about Black youth? I also posed the following question. I hope they finally conclude that the answers to Black on Black violence are in the Black community and not in the White community?

While I was thinking and pondering, Brother Abdul came in and wanted to give some reasons for this new concern for Black youth killing each other. "Well Carl the government and the White community have become concerned about youth violence because it is also affecting White people. There are some statistics from researchers at the National Center for Health Statistics that say next to traffic accidents, guns are the leading cause of death for Americans 15-19. But for Blacks, guns are the leading cause of death in ages 15-19 and the number is growing. The nations capital, Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles have the highest Black teenage firearms homicide rate."

At this point I was glad that Brother Abdul had given us some information on why the White community is expressing concerns about the Black on Black homicide rate. Now the major concern I had was, what are federal agencies and White researchers saying about the causes of this problem? Because if we are ever able to solve our own problems, it would be wise for us to make sure that we consider all the information available. Even information from those that only have a partial understanding of the problem.

Nasty talking, low-down Rat definitely should be informed about this question. Even though Rat has reformed somewhat since becoming one of my advisors, he still most likely carried a gun. In addition he has a previous record and a reputation for assault with deadly weapons. Yes, in the streets it is known that messing with Rat could get you killed, shot are cut up.

By now I could hear Rat hollering in the back of the room.
"Yeah I was once always talking about, I'm going to kill that Nigger, if he f. . . . with me, I'm going to f. . . . him up. Man I was messed up in the head. But first let's deal with what White people are saying that causes this violence. Crack cocaine is said to be the leading cause for Black on Black murder. The availability of extremely lethal weapons is also a cause for urban violence. And many researchers outside the Black community conclude that urban poverty and various sociological factors contribute to the growing increase in Black on Black violence.

Yes, Crack does have significant impact on the problem of Black on Black violence. The addiction to drugs and money is causing Black youth to act out of their minds. Also young drug dealers can buy all types of deadly hand guns legally and in the streets. But urban poverty and countless social problems have the greatest impact on the climate that produces Black on Black homicides."

Thanks Rat for your statements, and thanks again for not offending anyone by calling them a dirty name. But I know that there are also some other specific reasons that contribute to this problem. Memphis Slim was also street wise and had witnessed inner city violence for many years. When I found Slim, he told me he was tired.
Slim said "Carl I am tired of all the killing. Our young people are killing each other for nothing. Things are so bad that many random shootings result in innocent bystanders getting killed.

Most of the Black youth today are immature for their age. There seems to be a slow maturation process toward responsibility and discipline. Therefore, many Black youth have no direction in life and no ambition. Parental guidance is also a factor in the attitude of Black teens. Parents less than 20 years old have produced many of the Black teens roaming the streets. If the parents are dumb, stupid and have no direction the child will catch hell trying to survive, let alone pull themselves up from the dire circumstances of the Ghetto.

Some people also talk about education as a contributing factor to the dilemma of Black youth. But merely exposing Black youth to Black history does not raise the self esteem among many Black youths. Education is very important and knowledge about the Black experience has helped many Blacks maintain self respect and self esteem. But my observations of Black youth in high school and their refusal to accept the realities of the Black experience is a frightening scene.

For instance in the 60's we were hungry for Black history and soaked up every bit of history like a sponge. But many of today's Black youth could care less about slavery are any other aspect of the past experiences of Black people. In most cases the teaching strategies of arousing young Black students interest by noting the great achievements of great Black heroes falls on deaf ears. So something must be wrong with our youth, and the problem is getting worse. Something is also wrong with the educational system."

Thank you for your comments Slim. But we are still lost in our efforts to get some clear definitive answers to the problem of violence in the Black community. Southwest Willie had been listening intently. So I asked Willie to try to sum up the question of why Blacks kill each other at alarming rates?

Willie began by saying "Carl Blacks have not just started killing each other. Historically Black on Black violence has been one of the great tragedies and ironies of people oppressed and abused by White society.

But before the cocaine era started in the 70's, Black on Black violence was largely confined to domestic disputes and Black rage that resulted from drinking. So it is fair to say that historically Blacks have acted violently toward each other because of anxieties resulting from treatment by White people. Friday night violent acts by Blacks against other Blacks were generally frustrated Black males striking out at family and friends. This reaction was generally caused by a depressed and hopeless feeling in an oppressive community. So when you mentioned that the problem of Black violence is a mental health issue I have to agree.

Black people need to develop a simple and uncomplicated theoretical approach to solving the problem of Black on Black violence. First of all one must understand that Blacks have become conditioned to violence. How and why Blacks have become conditioned to violence should be a part of the theoretical approach. Coming to understand the historical development of Black on Black violence will help Blacks break the cycle of violence. The challenge for relief from this dreadful aspect of the ongoing Black Holocaust is understanding and change. Black people have been duped and tricked into the ultimate oppression of Back on Black murder.

When we come to understand that committing, acts of violence against each other do not mean we are inherently violent, we can change. Also, this abnormal behavior does not necessarily result from a mental illness Blacks are born with. This act of violence is a result of a racist psychological conditioning of Black people to oppress themselves."
