UPDATE - Police identify three suspects in taped beating

Norfolk Police say they've identified three of the people seen beating a 13-year-old in a videotape shown to WAVY.com by the victim's mother.

According to a spokesperson, Investigators from the Gang Squad have identified 3 of the suspects, and are in the process of identifying the other individuals involved.

They say charges will be filed against all of those involved. They also say that the victim, Damien O'Rourke, knew at least one of the assailants. Police said investigators are also trying to determine what circumstances occurred leading up to the assault.

They also said that, contrary to some statements, the assault does not appear to be racially motivated according to information gathered by investigators that we are unable to release.

I don't know what to say...WHY are these kids running around with so much anger in them where they do things that PUT them in jail...I can't say if the boy did anything to them or not...who knows WHAT caused them to whoop on him like that but we need to find ways for our children to redirect their anger.
I'm not fans of yt folks like that...but damn our kids aren't helping the struggle, aren't helping their families, much less THEMSELVES if they are locked up in jail. I know that radical changes and grassroot changes can be made from behind bars but your resources are limited as well as your time and freedom. Plus, kids at this age are way too influenced by the other bullshit happenings that go on in jail.
I know in chat last week we were talking about knowing how to fight and how to protect ourselves from yt folks and the other establishments that are out there to harm us and take away our lives...understood...
But what I just saw here was a bunch of nonsense...it wasn't productive...and they just gave the police and the rest of amerikkka the kerosene to light their asses up because they are just WAITING for us to mes up...to prove that Jena 6 isn't an isolated happening...that we all act like that and we all bdeserve to have attempted murder charges against us and what not...its a cycle that needs to be stopped and we need to get a hold of our children, reign them in, teach them discipline, teach them self defense...and get them out of this mob mentalitiy that is more harmful to the struggle than it is good...

Peace Queen, I think its obvious why our youth are so angry, growing up in amerikka is no cake walk. Young Africans display this type of agression on a daily basis, i.e. gangs, crime amongst each other, its happens daily in our communities, matter fact Africans have been and are fighting each other all over the world.

I think of course, it’s no accident the timing of the airing of this fight. With all the brutal fights posted on Youtube, why did this particular fight become so newsworthy?

I think if we’re going to have a defensive response to white supremacy, systemic racism, and white racist terrorism, we don’t need disorganized and spontaneous conflagrations by undisciplined Black young men recklessly destroying any workable solutions, positions, or strategy. Black militancy was not developed on this approach. You see this nowhere in our history; accept for the urban revolts (riots), which had no clear objectives at all!

Beating up this one white boy means absolutely nothing! If white folks thought this were all we wanted or were fighting for, hell they’ll feed us a “poor white trash” throwaway to beat up once a week!

Isn’t there an intelligent and logical history, and universally believed African moral and philosophical justifications behind African liberation and defiance that we should attempt to adhere to? Are we merely moving off of emotional responses and “knee-jerk” reaction? Are we that reckless?

Do we really read and deconstruct these articles about the history, politics, and possible use of Blackwater? Do we understand how many well-organized white citizen militia movements there are in almost every state in this country? Sunship said, the media can distort and give folks what they want us to see. The video shows the fight already in progress on the news, what happen beforehand? What led up to this attack? We dont know..but the reactions to it seem to be that these youngs are just out of control and have misplaced angered that needs to be checked. Yes I think our youth have tons of pent up anger as well as adults, and both have to learn how to use it effectively. Also in defense of our youth, there are many who are displined, equipted and preparing for the struggle, and I no we have alot more of the 'enemy' to study, but by no means are they ALL asleep.

They’re goin’ to take the three they already got, and smack’em around and ask where the other 3 at.

After about 2 or 3 hours of ass-wipin’, intimidation, humiliation, and threatening long jail time they’re going start squillin’ and rattin’ each other out…shit like, “jimmy hit’em first!”… (man, these are just kids, who thrive off of more hype than heart)

If they beat one too bad, at worst all their partners and few well-placed agent provocateurs get mad, and then go back home and burn down their own neighborhoods.

Next week, 90% of the money goes in the pockets of crooked community activist, meaningless social programs, greedy negro preachers, and the Arab and Korean liquor store owners (along with insurance money). The community is built back by white union contractors (or possibly a Halliburton subsidiary), and the once dilapidated Arab-owned liquor stores are bigger and better than ever, and the wine and beer coolers are even colder than ever.

And what was not rebuilt or abandoned become the new boarded-up crack houses, or leftover to be blighted property sold cheap for the beginnings of future white gentrification.

Maybe they recorded it in the defense of the Jena 6. If that is the case, I don't condone their actions not 1 bit. As I said they need to be more disciplined and not random, but if those young brothas did this out of rage over their brothas in Jena, then I salute them with all the African love in my soul. We cannot control the anger of others, at least I can't. Rogue actions happen even in the most disciplined factions and uniforms.

But Yes Brotha Bandele, the time does seem to be among up. However, as I mentioned in another thread, these things/ race riots happen every 30-50 years.
