Black Leaders Want New Million Man March

WASHINGTON (AP) - Black leaders called Monday for a rally in Washington
this fall to mark the tenth anniversary of the Million Man March, this
time including women.

Separately, the Anti-Defamation League criticized the lead role of
organizer Louis Farrakhan.

Farrakhan, the leader of the Nation of Islam, appeared with former
presidential candidates Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton to announce the
Millions More Movement in October.

It is billed as a more inclusive successor to the Million Man March,
encouraging women and gays to attend.

Farrakhan, who has been accused of making anti-Semitic remarks in the
past, issued a broad invitation that also took aim at the wealthy, his
critics, and both political parties.

"Millions More means we're reaching for the millions who carry the rich
on their backs," he said. He also used the sort of provocative language
that has prompted past criticism.

"If anybody deserves to strap a bomb on themselves and give pain for
the
pain we have suffered, it is we. But none of us would kill," he said.

The Anti-Defamation League, which has long criticized Farrakhan, urged
other black leaders to separate their cause from him.

"When will someone in the African-American community stand up and say
that the Million Man March had a positive message but the pied piper is
a racist and anti-Semite?" said ADL director Abraham Foxman.

Sharpton alluded briefly to the sometimes chilly relations among the
three black leaders but said they were working together to make the
event a success and to end disparities between black and white
Americans.

"We don't come to argue today about who said what, who did what. Our
family is in crisis," said Sharpton.

Organizers are promoting a Day of Absence from work and school on
Friday, Oct. 14, followed by a march in Washington on the 15th, and
religious services the next day.

Greetings, Jahness.

I wonder what these black leaders have to openly say about the U.S. Bounty for ASSATA'S HEAD! Now we know that some have openly opposed the War in Iraq, but what about our sister, Assata? I wonder if they are willing to be just as bold... Hmm..

Anyway, as for the Million March, okay. It's good to see that some men are acknowledging the fact that it was through both a man AND a woman that they came, but what (loosely quoting) Dr.John Henrike Clarke said on one of his tapes about The Million March and ANY movement that does not include its women being doomed to fail STILL sticks out so vivdly in my mind. Now don't get me wrong, sometimes the men must STRICTLY be amongst themselves, as sometimes the women must STRICTLY be amongst themselves, BUT if at ANY point we start to isolate ourselves from one another in our struggle for liberation based on sex, those words by Dr.Clarke will reverberate in the effects of that isolation.

Again though, I am really curious as to what, if anything, these black leaders and their followers will OPENLY have to say about Sister Assata and the U.S. Bounty on her head.

I break out into tears from time to time already from the condition black people and humanity is in general. Jesse (Adulter), Sharpton (Snitch), Farrakhan (Murderer), Chavis (Embezzler) and the bunch are just not the right group to be doing this kind of event.

This is nothing but some Neo-Colonial sell-outs working to co-opt another Peoples Movement. An elder once told me that the March on Washington, DC didn't have shit to do with Dr. King. A woman was the main organizer and that its objective was for Africans to converge on the city and shut it down. The Feds got wind of it and got some Negro sell-outs to co-opt it and water it down into some B.S.

My criticism of the first March is that it was good to see Africans come together in that Mass number for Africans, however don't bring that many Africans together if you ain't got shit for them to do. Africans should have shut the city down and made our Demands For Reparations, Freedom of our Political Prisoners, etc. Once again we failed to Seize the Time.
