i didnt know,where to post it,either spiritual section or here,but here it goes?
i was told bya ghanian friend of mine,that sometimes,we are our own worse enemies,because,he told me we have all this esoteric knowledge and we use it against each other,he told me haiti,has vodou,but haiti is still poor, brazlians use it to help white brazilians be rich,in the west Indies,people also uses it agaisnt each other,where we should use this knowledge to empower us, power with,not power over,if yall know what i mean,i am all ears and i want to see what my afrikan family has to say,are we our own worse enemies? assante sane!

Excellent questions/observations/acknowledgements! This would be VERY good/necessary in the Spirituality forum as well. (If you don't also put it there before too long, I'm just going to have to take matters in ma own hands, Young Man. )

Everything you've mentioned about the brother's observations seem on it to me. I have acknowledged the same observations and have even had similar threads on these things here, just in different words.

To answer the question, especially in regards to how it was put, I agree. We ARE our own worse enemies, because caucasions ultimately have no power over us that we do not give them. Spiritual just as much as financial greed has kept us separated and even in the situation that we are in. The same patterns of greed and the illusion of power that seemingly helped to make slavery possible can be seen in a lot of those who claim spiritual power over their brothers and sisters.

At any rate, this very question will never be fully discussed without taking us to the ROOTS of our present situations. The greed and betrayal that helped to create an African Diaspora in the first place. Until we are honest and learn/acknowledge OUR patterns of cause and effect, we will continue to repeat the same destructive patterns. What could be more anti-"us" than refusing to recognize/acknowledge and possibly correct our paths?

Only through ignorance, self hatred and divide and conquer tactics can we be our own worst enemy. If we continue to ignorethe fact that united we are a massively strong people, we will remain in the second class position that we are in. If we continue to embrace self hatred, lashing our vehemently against the aspirations of other Afrikan people, we will remain virtual slaves of this beast. And, if we continue to allow others to divide us (therefore making conquering us very easy), we will continue to be the victims of their oppression.

All of these things can be changed, once we ALL begin to think differently. But, we must all realize that our liberation will not happen overnight. This isn't a fast-food styled struggle, where we have it our way, as fast as we want it. We must understand that our struggle will be a protracted one, because our demise wasn't an overnight event.

It has always interested me that if the worship of Vodun can be so powerful, why hasn't it been used in the way that Boukman used it during the Ayatian Revolution.

Yeah we are our own worse enemy!!! y else are we in this current condition. it's like a wife bein beatin, but chosin not to leave. not enough courage to challenge the abuser becomes your enemy, FEAR. which has been instilled in us w/ violence/terror/mayhem & yet & still we rejoice as if a saviour is opening the sky & coming any mintue now.
