 Pp/pow Earthdays!
i want to start a Sticky encouraging people to send birthday cards to PP/POW's, it is certainly something quick and easy that you can just sign and put a stamp on at the very least and it will mean so much! It would be great to follow-up with a note to the congressperson as detailed below, as well. It's late in April, i know, but here are the April birthdays, i'm sure no one will mind getting one a few weeks late.  i got them from www.thejerichomovement.com, if they are able to keep them current, i'll keep going over there to get them. i'm sure somebody up here has got my back in case i don't make it over there in a timely fashion!  Let our Freedom Fighters know they are not forgotten. Reach out to them on their birthdays. 1. Send them a greeting card or write them a letter. 2. If possible, send a monetary gift (check or money order) for their commissary account. 3. At the same time, write your congressperson and state elected officials a short note. (Sample) Dear _______, Today (date) we celebrate the birthday of (name of freedom fighter). He/she is (age) years old. He/she has been incarcerated for more than two decades because of his/her commitment to the human rights of individuals. We urge you to help give him/her the precious gift of freedom. Thanks for y'alls responses, fantastic! i'm sorry i'm not organized enough to have the May birthdays together, Queen Nef, i have to depend on the Jericho Movement to post that when they update their website with that info. i'll try to get it posted here as soon as i see it. In May of 2004, six individuals, along with the animal rights organization Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty USA, were charged with violations of various federal criminal statutes, most notably the Animal Enterprise Protection Act (AEPA), a/k/a the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act. Gazzola was convicted of 6 felonies and sentenced to 52 months in prison. DANIEL McGOWAN 63794-053, FCI Sandstone Unit 1, Box 1000, Sandstone, MN 55072 BIRTHDAY: May 2, 1974 McGowan is a environmental and social justice activist serving a 7 year sentence for his involvement in various alleged ELF actions. Prior to his arrest he was a long time anarchist who also dedicated his time to numerous political prisoner campaigns. He is also part of the Prisoner Committee of the ABCF. ALVARO LUNA HERNANDEZ #255735, Hughes Unit, Rt. 2, Box 4400, Gatesville, TX 76597 BIRTHDAY: May 12, 1952 Alvaro Luna Hernández was sentenced in Odessa, TX on June 2-9, 1997 to 50 years in prison for defending himself by disarming a police officer drawing a weapon on him (unarmed). He was a target of police repression because of his years of prison and community activism. MONDO WE LANGA (D. RICE) 27768, Nebraska State Penitentiary, Box 2500, Lincoln, NE 68542-2500 BIRTHDAY: May 21, 1947 Mondo We Langa is a former Omaha Panther falsely accused of a 1970 bombing that killed a cop. Recent evidence has emerged that has proved that an FBI coverup took place to frame We Langa and his co-defendant. This was yet another example of COINTELPRO in action.
