Tonight I will be on HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher talking about the most compelling case of innocence in several decades. I just met with Troy Anthony Davis, an African-American man in Georgia facing execution for a murder that all the evidence says he didn't commit.

There is no physical evidence linking him to the crime and seven of the nine eyewitnesses have recanted or contradicted their testimonies. Some say they were coerced to lie by Savannah police. He has been on death row 18 years.

This NAACP campaign is not just online. NAACP organizers are on the streets and in the churches in Savannah, Georgia, working to persuade the new Chatham County District Attorney, Larry Chisolm, to reopen the case. Sign the petition now and organizers will hand it to the DA and Georgia's governor as well. This campaign is part of a larger NAACP program to reform our criminal justice system and end the mass imprisonment of our young people.

Yes I caught you on Bill's show last night. Wearing that t-shirt was a great thing. Why did you have to squeeze your mentioning Troy into the dicussion? I mean whatever it takes....but Bill wasn't agreeable to discussing this issue? Just interested in knowing particularly given his response...

Oh that wasn't me, that was the brother from the NAACP who wrote the email talking about Brother Troy's cases. If it was me we would be talking about him and nothing more.

You are on the case, Bro. Jalili, i just happened to catch a portion of Bill Maher's show and so all i noticed was the t-shirt, i missed the part where he may have mentioned our Bro. at all. But it was a big step for him to wear that shirt, imagine the NAACP's of the past, there would have been no such a thing, particularly coming from the president!

A small step, but a step nonetheless. i see they also have iamtroy.org, too. i'm glad Ben Jealous is on fi-yah for this case, hopefully thru this case he will see the need to dust off the NAACP and organize against the DP PERIOD.
