We Must Stay In Contact With Our POW's Behind Enemy Lines Program!!!

We Must Stay In Contact With Our POW's Behind Enemy Lines Program!!!

Revolutionary Greetings Warriors

Many Of us are concerned and give thanks to our many Prisoners Of War who are in concentration camps, all of whom need our support, I know we can take a few moments out of our time, to write to our Warriors if its just to let them know, they aren't alone. When contacting our Warriors please follow these guidelines in your letter:

Contacting Political Prisoners

Always include a non-P.O. Box return address.

For a reply, include a Self Addressed Stamped Envelope.

Ask before you send any books, articles, etc. Some prisons may prohibit certain material.

Display humility and patience. These are real people fighting for their lives, with families and projects. (Yes, many stay busy.)

Tell them who you are (name/gender/age/race, etc.), a little about your political beliefs, your level of community activism and why you are writing.

Don't badger someone to write you back.

Do not press for details on cases pending, unless you have information that can lead to proving someone's innocence.

If all of us can each select one of our Warriors and post who we selected, so that we can effectively contact them all. This is a the goal we can easily acheive doesnt cost much but is priceless in terms of our Warriors, Im looking forward to all to support this important program, hopefully we can get the youth to carry on this soon to be tradition...

Compiled List Of POW's Behind Enemy Lines

This is a short list, any of our Warriors information that is not listed is just a oversight, Please add any that was missed, we will organize a letter writing & support campaign to our Warriors behind enemy lines....

Political Prisoners and POW\'s in the US & Abroad

Conditions in Concentration Camps
In response to Prisoners in Pontiac being forced to visit their children behind 4 inches of glass while shackled down and having a black net mask over their face with a rubber grill over the mouth; and women in Cook County Jail being forced to rinse their sanitary napkins out for reuse...We Demand that city, state, and federal concentration camps be open for the People\'s Inspection and an immediate ceasing of the forced medicating, beating, and horrid conditions those held captive are forced to endure.

Prison Visit

Prison Visit
by Monique Code
http://www.sfbayview.com/041906/prisonvisit041906.shtml

What goes through the mind of a person visiting an inmate in these concentration camps? Why visit people in jail? What do you go through when you visit a loved one? These are questions that many people do not like or want to answer. Some are ashamed to talk about it. Yet, unfortunately, it is so commonplace in our community. This is a revolving system that must stop plaguing our community with the stigma of us being nothing but criminals, alcoholics, drug addicts and hoes.

As you read this article, either you or someone you know is in prison doing time. What some inmates don’t realize is that not only are they incarcerated, but they place their families in jail as well. Is it fair? Of course not.

Unfortunately, it’s reality in the hood as well as in the suburbs. Sadly, so many Black families have to suffer over the wrong choices a family member chooses to make. There are some cases, however, where a person has been caught up in a web for something they did not do. That’s another article.

As someone who does not have an immediate family member in prison, I am one of many who know firsthand what a family member or anyone goes through when they go to see their loved ones in prison. It is mentally, spiritually and financially challenging. To say that a human being can handle the environment of a prison is insane. It is truly heartbreaking to witness a loved one having no control over their lives. Allow me to share what I go through on a monthly basis.

To prepare myself for a visit with our dear comrade Brother Jamal Hart, I must schedule the time frame that works best for me. Then the finances come into play. Like you, I got bills to pay, and a sista gotta eat!

I have to put money aside to make sure I don’t get stuck on the five hour journey to his facility from New York City. Tolls, gas, food and accommodations must be covered. I also have the option to take two buses up there. The total for the trip if I take the bus route is around $400. If I decide to drive, it runs me around $200 more because I have to count gas and tolls. Remember, this is a monthly expense!

There are plenty of families who spend more than that to visit their loved ones. If they’re in a state facility, families have to accept collect calls from them. Fortunately, the federal facilities do allot a certain amount of minutes each month per inmate that the inmate can pay for. The maximum they can stay on a call is 15 minutes. Believe me, the prepaid calls are a big help!

In closing, the prison system is designed to break an individual’s spirit and their ability to function in the world once they are released. It is also designed to break families apart.

Some families cannot visit their relatives due to the financial burden. We as a community must be clear that people who are incarcerated are still human beings. They and their families need our support regardless of the reason they are in there. If you do not decide to be there for them, ask yourself this question: Who should be there for you?

Hasan Shakur gets a reprieve

Texas death row prisoner Hasan Shakur, born Derrick Frazier, was scheduled to be executed this Thursday. On Monday, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals stopped the clock to allow time to consider a new appeal. The U.S. Supreme Court had turned down Hasan’s appeal

SAMPLE LETTER

Office of the Governor Rick Perry
PO Box 12428
Austin TX 78711

March 14, 2006

Dear Governor Perry,

Derrick Frazier #999284, an inmate at the Polunsky Unit in Livinston, Texas,
is scheduled to be executed on August 31, 2006. I and many others strongly
believe that this would be a gross miscarriage of justice, and I urge you
with all my heart to grant Mr. Frazier a stay of execution.

There are some serious doubts that Mr. Frazier committed the crime. There is
a lack of material evidence to link him to the crime for which he is
sentenced to die. He did not get to confer with legal counsel when he was
sentenced, and received counsel during his trial by a lawyer that was later
sanctioned for his incompetence. There are serious questions about the
circumstances under which his “confession” took place.

There are enough questions in his case to raise doubts that this man
committed a capital crime. To execute him with those doubts out there would
be a travesty.

I implore you to grant a stay of execution to Mr. Frazier, and allow him the
time and space to prove his innocence.

Sincerely,

STOP THE EXECUTION OF HASAN SHAKUR

Minister of Human Rights of the New Afrikan Black Panther Party – Prison
Chapter!

Born Derrick Frazier, poor Black and wild, convicted of homicide by an all
white jury in Texas after a short railroad ride through the legal system,
sentenced to die at age twenty, reborn Hasan Shakur on Death Row. Hasan
Shakur is a self made man, made in the image of a Black Panther. Schooled by
political prisoners like Russell Maroon Shoats and the ghosts of George
Jackson and Shaka Sankofa.

Hasan is the founder of the Human Rights Coalition (HRC) Texas Chapter,
giving hope to and leading the struggle of prisoners and their families for
respect of their basic human rights and dignity from his cell on the
Polunsky Unit Death Row in Livingston, Texas. He has himself traveled the
road from despair to hope, hope for humanity, and in particular his
long-suffering New Afrikan people.

The New Afrikan Black Panther Party – Prison Chapter (NABPP-PC) is a
new-born formation, formed inside the Belly of the Beast of the Amerikan
Empire. Composed of young Black prisoners like Hasan Shakur who found
redemption in studying the lives of other Black prisoners like Malcolm X and
the thoughts of revolutionaries like Mao Tse-Tung, Franz Fanon and Amilcar
Cabral.

Though widely separated and locked away in cages, they are moving forward
together to transform the iron houses of oppression into “schools of
liberation,” to transform their fellow prisoners into selfless servants of
the people, to transform the oppressed communities from which they come into
base areas of cultural, social and political revolution, and to transform
and make bright the future of the world.

Comrade Hasan Shakur is a valuable asset to the struggle for the future. We
must go all out to save his live.. We do not have much time!

His execute date is August 31, 2006!

From Hasan Shakur, NABPP-PC Minister of Human Rights, Given Execution Date

POOF!

Just like that;
Dreams shattered!
Shredded to piece;
Nothing remains;
Nothing but my face in the form of a paper doll being entered into a
Document shredder!

Not to fret! My loyalties and duty to the Party DO NOT FALTER!

As I tell all my comrades: Do not allow this to break you, as it does
nothing but push me even farther! It is fuel on an empty tank! It is a thorn
in my side which I wish to remove! It is a thorn in the people’s side which
I will remove!

At this very moment, I represent the 2.3 million people in this system’s
injustice system. I represent the 3,000 plus people sentenced to die at the
hands of this government, in its gulags across the nation.

I stand tall as a Panther committed to the people’s struggle! And as the
Minister of Human Rights, I will exemplify the epitome of
Socio-Revolutionary Consciousness!

DARE TO STRUGGLE! DARE TO WIN!

DEDICATION

To all who have dreamed
To all who have struggled
To all who have succeed
To all who have failed
To all who have loved and won
To all who have loved and lost
To all who have dared to be
Different
To those who are not afraid to speak
Their mind
To the voiceless
To all the Kamaus, Shakas and Rudds
To all those that believed and
Achieved
To all who have been forced into silence
To all who are not afraid of adversity
To all the newborns awaiting breath

THIS IS DEDICATED TO YOU!

SCIENCE

Young Black male – ignorant brotha same color as mine
Gun in hand – left
Nuts in palm – right
C-walkin’ down to the left
Blood down the drain to the right

“Nzuri Ndugu?”
“Nigga you’s black – speak English!”
“Kweli Ju u!”
raped and pillaged
stripped of our identity

given to us but shipped in by them
hundred and fifty dollar Nikes
bling bling pinky ring
big pimping on 24’s
pimping hoes – slamming Cadillac doors
while your child hungry, naked and homeless
broke, Black and disgusted
not to be trusted
at the post office door
with a 9 mili…

BLAH!

Damn – went postal
Not west coastal
Not east coastal
Straight local joker
Our insanity
Makes us question our longevity
You you you or me
This is how it WASN’T meant to be
Rotting inside a penitentiary with
A death sentence hanging over me?
Shit peep me when I speak
Dropping science of the mind
My tech nine, my mac-ten
Emulating the life that I want to win
Skin be my sin?
Hell naw my brotha
My ignorance is a death sentence
Upliftment to righteousness is freedom
Freedom of mind freedom of spirit, personal
Freedom from bondage and chains on the brain
That makes us all
Insane…
Wake the fuck up gutter brain,
Brothas gotta work it out,
Not strive for clout;
“Hey yo, what he talking bout?”
raise up; break yo-self
from the chains that bound
and gagged us for years
Sambo, Tom… Ofae
Keep it real
Because soon you gotta pay
Not to me, but to your seeds
The impregnation of a nation that’s pregnant with
Tomorrow’s future choking on its umbilical cord?
NOPE, ‘cause what I am spitting is the ANTI-dope
Can’t be no dope and let the rope
Become a noose around your neck
… dragging you behind the truck of a king
nah what I mean
… but this type of shit is frightening because I am
a menace to a society that is unbalanced
so you just spit the Truth and carry the
Knowledge
And that is the formula of Science… ALL POWER TO THE PEOPLE!!!

THE WHOLE WORLD

Look at the world around you
Ain’t it a mess?
AK on one’s shoulder and body protected
By a vest
Shit this is a police state if I ever seen one
Cops here to protect and serve
But
They the criminals – with a badge PLUS a gun
It’s a trip I swear yall
Walk with me and vibe
I said walk yall… cause we going to jail if we DRIVE
I am straight up!
Call me Chuck D or something like that
Cause I am public enemy number one
Or something like that
Callin’ me a nigger, nig, nigga or fool
But then they ask
“Why ain’t no Black History REALLY taught in school?”
how the hell do you figa?
Malcolm, Martin and Medgar are my Black Heroes
NOT MY NIGGAZ!
Yeah brotha, this world is a trip
Not my mama’s world at all – it is deep
But yo – look at the world around
You and holla back… tell me what
You see…

AFRIKAN DREAMING

No smog to clog your lungs
Worry-free lifestyle having fun
No Black on Black crime
Killin’ over nickels and dimes
No thoughts of one’s secuality
Or the death penalty being my finality
No dreams clogging up my reality
No gun violence making me a casualty
No more thoughts about the color f my skin
Just cause I’m Black – my skin’s my sin
No wonder when we die, they clappin’
‘cause NO way in hell this all will happen.
But imagine this,
Conscious people – NO wilding out
Our daughters not loose – asss hanging out
One’s baby mama – not found in a club
No gangstas, no thugs, no crips, no bloods
Both parents in the home helping with homework
Not mama with two jobs – no rest all work
Some say I am a dreamer
Well,
Maybe I am.
But I say I am real…
Real Black,
Real conscious,
Cause I give a damn!!!

Now is a GREAT time....

... to shout out one (or several) POW/PP's with a happy new year card! Don't feel that because they are on lockdown that they wouldn't appreciate your best wishes, cuz they would! If you're uncomfortable writing a letter, just get a card (or a box of cards) and write a short note, even if it's two sentences, and send it off!

They have given SO MUCH, and have come to believe that NOBODY even knows of their sacrifices. How f'd up must *that* feel! You can put a smile on their face and restore some joy to their spirit.

OK?

Writing a Political Prisoner

Writing a Political Prisoner

Here are a few example and ideas I have come up with when we write our political prisoners.

• Know as much as you can about their case before writing them. If limited information is available, try to gain their view —ask how things went down and how they were treated, etc.
• Don’t treat them as a case study! They are humans as well as you and I are. They are treated as animals and objects enough while incarcerated so, show a little consideration.
• Remember that prison life is quite stressful and lonely. Try to be supportive and upbeat in your correspondences and use tact when writing (Don’t ask questions like “Have you ever dropped the soap before…” and things of that nature) that is just rude.
• Don’t spill your life story. Although the political prisoner may be a person you would kick it with on the outside, you never know whose hands your letters will end up in, so be careful with your personal information.
• Don’t send large amounts of money. Make sure you check with the facility and how you can properly send money for commissary or other items. Prisons usually require that all money be sent via a postal money order.

When I write a prisoner, I write quotes that I have found inspiring, stories about situations I have been through, current events, etc. I keep the letters friendly and ask about their appeals, upcoming parole hearings, etc and what actions we on the outside, can take. I also ask them to share a bit about themselves, whatever they feel comfortable in sharing, that is.

For those that are worried about the safety of using their home address, there is a P.O Box available through the forum which can be used to correspond with political prisoners. Inquire for more details.

Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated! (Also review the first post in this sticky)

For those that need a template to get started, let me know and I will furnish one for you.

UHURU SASA!

DO NOT LET THEM BE OUT OF SIGHT, OUT OF MIND!
