Digital Versatile Disk

Digital versatile disks, or otherwise known as DVDs, fall into the category of secondary storage mediums. DVDs appear very similar to CDs, however they are capable of holding a much larger capacity of data; commonly 4.7 GB.

Provided that your computer is outfitted with a DVD burner and DVD burning software, writable digital versatile disks offer us another means of backing up our data.

If you feel it is time that you back up your data, especially if you only have a few gigabytes of important files, making a DVD backup is much more affordable than purchasing another hard drive and more practical than spanning those important files across multiple CDs.
