Africa Online Unveils New High Speed Internet Service Dar es Salaam
      March 2006 -

Africa Online Unveils New High Speed Internet Service Dar es Salaam March…. 2006… In another first for this market, Africa Online Tanzania announced today that it had set up a new high speed Internet access service. Known as Afol ADSL, it is an acronym for Africa Online’s Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line and is a new technology that utilizes existing copper telephones lines to send and receive data at speeds that far exceed conventional dial-up modems. Ken Munyi, Africa Online Tanzania General Manager said that this was a service designed to eliminate the usual problems associated dial up connection such as unreliable connectivity, the need for a telephone line huge telephone bills and having to deal with multiple accounts for the Internet connection. Said Munyi, “ The new service will ensure that customers are always connected to the Internet.” In addition, he observed that customers would experience faster download speeds than they previously did with dial up connections. “Because the ADSL signal is operating on a different frequency, the telephone can be used normally, even when surfing the Web with ADSL service, explained Munyi.
