my digital recorder and my PC

maybe someone can help me. i'm not at all up on all this technology, so please don't laugh LOL. I bought a digital recorder (this is my very first) to use thinking that I could record whatever and then transfer everything to my computer, make a CD of it (which I have a burner I'm not sure how to use) and/or also download/upload some of the stuff to my mp4 player.

I'm tinkering around trying to figure out how to use the recorder because I'm not used to these folders and the varying recording speeds. What do I know about this stuff? I've been using microcassette recorders with acutal tapes. Anyhow, I realized there's no usb port to connect to my PC. I realize that no CD came with the recorder.

How can I get the files to my computer, make a CD and then move files to my mp4 player? Do I need to purchase special software for this? Help please

I promise I am not laughing, but I am smiling. Do you at least have a manual that came with the digital recorder? I cannot even begin to give you any type of advice because I do not know what recorder you are even using.

Also you might be able to do a search on google to see the different options you might have for use with it once you put a model number and brand name in the search.

Let me know how it goes or give me some additional information on the brand name or model and I will do some indept research.

thanks for responding. I bought a Sony IC recorder ICD-B500. I've included an ebay link, so hopefully you can bring it up and have a look. I have a feeling that I bought the wrong kind of recorder.

I just checked the Best buy page... this recorder has no removable memory card.

So what you have to do is run the headphone-out into your soundcard-input and use a program that comes with windows called sndrec.32 -->C:\WINDOWS\system32 (find it in here )

I realize that my computer doesn't have the software I need. I also found out that microsoft has discontinued it since vista has come out. I have to buy it, I suppose. I put link for the software below in case anyone is interested.
