      "Growling" LCD Monitor

      0 Not allowed! Not allowed!
      Greetings! ImHotep!

When I turned on my system today, my previously silent [no speakers built in] monitor 'growled.'

What would cause this to happen And can this be repaired or should I return it to manufacturer? [it is still under 3 year warranty]

The picture is fine and working at this time but I suspect the 'growling' foretells of some type of pending failure.

So. . . . what is the possible problem?

      Asante sana!

      Greetings AzaniaSpeaks!

Just trying to do a little troubleshooting on your problem.

Are you sure the sound is coming from your monitor?

Do you have anything heavy sitting on top of your monitor.

If possible can you listen to your CPU while it is on and see if
you are also getting any unusually loud sounds or noises?

I suspect it might be your fan in your CPU, but you specifically
said the noise was coming from your monitor.

Let me know as soon as you can so we can find out the problem.

      Peace & Blessings!

      Greetings! ImHotep!

You were so right! There is a pager that was left in the vehicle that I used this weekend and I think that was causing the problem! Once I moved it off the desk the growling stopped!

      Hmmmm! Modern technology!

      Asante sana! 1 million thanks!

      Greetings AzaniaSpeaks

Happy to hear things worked out for the better with your computer. Yes, if the pager was sitting on the monitor, and it's set for vibrating when it rings, then that will definitely give you that growling sound. It has happen to me before with my cell phone.

I forgot I laid it on my CPu one time and it scared the daylight out of me, before I noticed what it was that was making the noise. It seems I would hear the noise and then it stopped, so I never suspected it was the cell phone, until one day I was right next to the computer when it happened,
and the phone was doing the electric slide as it was vibrating on top of the computer. :o

Anything else in the future feel free to post the problem, and we will work
on it together just like today :o

      Stay Blessed!

      Growlling Computers

      Greetings! ImHotep!

I must say I was quite confused when I first heard the 'monitor' growl! I really thought it was going bad and actually tried to hurry and get some things done before the display began to -- I couldn't even imagine what the display was about to do! LOL

Anyway, it's sooooooo good to know that you, along w/the collective you, are there/here responding to questions. I can't express how deeply connected to you('all) I feel each time I visit the site! I don't always log in but I do check in frequently. After working w/computer all day on the 'slave' I avoid the extra radiation at home as much as possible -- I never turn on the TV for TV sake -- I sometimes will watch a DVD or VHS, but always Black folks, ya know?

Just saying thanks again for your prompt response and thoughtfulness! I'm glad I've found you('all)! Am plotting [since Monday] how to manage my finances so that I can come to ATL for Kwanzaa, so I'll be asking for housing suggestions, scheduled activities and general guidance over the next few months.

      Much Love!

      Dowloading Java Virtual Machine

      0 Not allowed! Not allowed!
      Greetings! ImHotep!

Sister, I need to take advantage of some web based training offered by 'the slave' and am unable to access the courses. It has something to do with :???: the Java Virtual Machine [oddly enough the desktop I've been using at this new assignment had the same problem as my home machine and wouldn't log into the web site either].

Question: Can I download the JVM from the web w/o allowing spyware/adware, etc. to invade my machine? Also, can I access the web based courses utilizing the JVM w/o becoming infected with malware?

      Please advise!

      Asante sana!

Yes, you can download the software without getting pop-ups or malware.
Change your popup settings so you can download the software, and when you are finished downloading the software, reset your browser to block popups.

You can download the software at this site:

      http://java-virtual-machine.net/download.html

Read the page throughly and make sure you choose the Java Virtual Machine download. Also follow the directions carefully.

      Peace & Blessings!

Do you ever sleep? Anyway. . . am so glad you took the time to respond so quickly to my query! You are indeed 'Jahness!'

It's waaaaaaay past my bedtime, but I had to check out some of the PC Tech postings! Glad I did, cause I learned something!

Oh, and how do I add a signature to my posts? An automatic signature that I don't have to type in each time?

      Thanks in advance!

Sister, I failed to study the Legend on the log in page so I had no idea what Warrior CP meant. Now I see that it is the control panel which I only saw previously when viewing private messages. So. . .

Consider that last question answered! I truly am going to shut down and get some sleep now -- obviously I need it!

Thanks for being, thanks for seeing and thanks for allowing me to admit my imperfection!

Ok, just make sure you read the info thoroughly and choose the
right JVM for your operating system before you download.

Hahahahah I do sleep, only standing up...lol. I am a night owl

Need guidance in downloading streaming media

      0 Not allowed! Not allowed!
      Greetings! ImHotep!

I'm interested in saving streaming radio to my hard drive. I've been utilizing the windows media player for certain internet sites and would appreciate receiving insructions as to how to download some of the radio lectures, etc.

One of our brothers told me how to do it over the phone but I simply did not get the instructions/process straight in my head.

Thanks in advance for your patience and assistance!

      Asante sana!
