Mu Kanda - African Centered Online Communiversity with Soul http://www.ayaed.com/mu_kanda_intro.htm http://www.ayaed.com/catalogfall2005/index.htm Mu Kanda is the name of our online learning space. Mu Kanda is Kikongo and it means "in the community." We like to say: "in the AYA-Hood." Mu Kanda offers: Regular classes (with live instructor-to-students interaction) that meet over a period of weeks or months for 10-30 students Community Lectures and Discussions where people register for a particular lecture/discussion or for a particular series Online Tutoring where students and teacher interact with video, voice and shared writing boards Internet Audio (AYAradio.net) with self-paced quizzes and tutorials to reinforce learnings from speeches and music. Online Learning is here to stay. Let Mu Kanda put you ahead. AYA Educational Institute's International Home School Course Schedule Fall Semester 2005 Study Groups Adult Courses for your re-Afrikanization journey. We're all on a continuum of re-Africanization. These adult level study groups help us along the way by providing us with other adults from around the country and around the world who, like us, are seeking a deeper understanding of our situation and how to change it within the context of an Afrikan community for an Afrikan future. Both fiction and non-fiction are used as motivation and instruction for us actually changing our lives and doing something great with and for our people. If this sounds like something that calls your name, then come on in and sign up. Wednesday Special Seminars Every month AYA holds special seminars -- usually lasting 4 sessions. Some are free. For others we ask for a donation or require a modest fee. Afrikan scholars, practitioners, authors, workers, speakers, professionals, doers, bring you their passion, insight, lessons, and wisdom gleaned from doing the work of defending and restoring our people. Check below and check back to this section often; these presenters are working constantly, so we have to schedule their (singular or multiple) seminar presentations when we can tie them down. It's not that they don't want to talk and teach. It's just that they're so busy doing the work, that talking takes a back seat. That's exactly the kind of seminar presenters we want for you - the AYA family. Time's out for pontificating and re-proving what we've proved many times before. Time now for doing the work. Come and become inspired and instructed by others who are taking action now! Afrikan Language Study To study Afrikan languages is to study our people and our culture. To learn to speak in our "tongues" before our captivity and brutality by Europeans is to heal. It's the healing that allows us to re-create from our cultural strengths and world view. Far deeper than learning just how to ask for a cab or for change, AYA's language courses have you talking to your ancestors and loved ones without the oppressor mediating the exchange. This is the next step in your re-Africanization journey; the next step to nurture the Afrikan spirit as it seeks to subdue the brutally imposed European one.
