| Sankofa-Kuumba Talent Search
In support of the "Philly Youth Fest" an anti-violence, anti-drug, multi-cultural event sponsored by The Philadelphia Youth Cultural Foundation, on Sat. June 10, 2006, (in Faimount Park), The Million Woman March Organization of PA will hold several activities specifically geared to young Black females. The Sankofa-Kuumba Talent Search for Black Females is for Females of African descent (the entire African Diaspora) ages 7-18 years of age, who have artistic abilities, from all genres, who which to share and showcase their performing and visual arts to the community at large. Major and non majors are encouraged to apply and participate. Finalist will be featured in Million Woman March 10 Year Anniversary celebration events and/or projects and eligible for soon to be available scholarships. Visual Art submitted will be displayed all day at the "Philly Youth Fest" on Sat. June 10, 2006. Applicants may submit 1-3 pieces. Visual art pieces can include: drawings, photographs, paintings, etchings, wearable art (clothing, jewelry, etc.), ceramic, clay, home or office decor, etc. Performing Artist will have approximately 1-3 mins. to present their artistic presentation which will take place at the "Philly Art Fest." Performances can include: vocal, dance, poetry/spoken word, musical, comedy, dramatic, etc. Please note: No profanity, lude, or any other type of degrading material or display will be allowed.
