Philadelphia Black Survival Network (Originally Philadelphia Black Relief Effort) is a Network of the locals of Philadelphia as a response to the helpless
situation our Brothers and Sisters were faced with during the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina. One year later we are concerned about the rapid rise of self-murder among our people. In response, we are raising the great call for a Black Cease Fire to end the internal self-destruction of our communities. The Cease Fire will be held on Saturday, Sept. 2 at 6:30PM at the following 3 locations, simultaneously:
19th & Cecil B. Moore Ave
Broad & Erie Ave
52nd & Market St.
Below is the mission statement of the event. Hope to See you there.

THE CALL FOR A BLACK CEASE FIRE
“An End To The Internal Warfare And Self-Destruction”
Mission Statement
In 2005 there were 380 murders in Philadelphia.
170 of those murdered were Black males 25 yrs old and younger
Since January of 2006 there have been 270 homicides.
80% of the victims were African American.
The murder must stop.
Black communities across the country are increasingly
becoming death traps for it's own residents.
The evils of poverty, alienation, and mis-education have
plagued our communities to where it's no longer the Ku Klux
Klan primarily killing us, now we're mostly killing
ourselves.
Self- hatred is the worst mentality for a human being to
have.
As a community, we have the responsibility to rely on
OURSELVES to reverse the self- hatred that is causing so
many deaths in our neighborhoods.
The elderly are scared to walk on their own blocks because
of the possibility their long lives will end due to a stray
bullet.
Parents are afraid to allow their children to play outside
because their child may get killed in a cross fire.
Brothers killing Brothers.
Sisters killing Sisters.
Brothers killing Sisters.
Sisters killing Brothers.
Children killing Children.
The murder must stop.
The Philadelphia Black Survival Network is calling for all
residents, organizations, churches, masjids, and families of
the Black Community to come make a stand on Saturday
September 2nd 2006 at 52nd & Market, 19th & Cecil B. Moore,
and Broad & Erie to call for a "Black Cease-fire".
A Black Cease-fire because we're murdering each other.
There’s a senseless war going on among Black people due to
frustration and anger of our terrible conditions. We must
put down the weapons for the sake of our community and unite
to work out our problems.
We’re on the road to self-destruction and only WE can change
the direction our community is going.
September 2nd marks the one year anniversary of Hurricane
Katrina. Since the hurricane of nature killed thousands of
our people, a year later the hurricane of Black death has
continued to sweep away many lives in our neighborhoods.
But just like we survived Hurricane Katrina, we will survive
the self-murder in our communities.
We can only rely on our own people to solve the problems of
our community. There is no other alternative that will make
our communities better. Community residents must come
together to call for a Black Cease-fire and form a movement
from block to block that would spread the message of ending
the black on black murder in the neighborhoods.
Come and stand with your community on Sept. 2nd to call for
a Black Cease-fire to end the internal warfare and self-
destruction of our people.
