M ao Tse-Tung the great Chinese revolutionary theorist once said that "the socialist system will eventually replace the capitalist system; this is an objective law independent of man's will." This point was correct in 1957 and still is correct in 2007. Socialism is the mode of production of the future.

Capitalism—the exploitative society-- is continuously proving itself to be totally inadequate for the advancement and development of the international working class and the world's people. Increasingly the rapid centralization of the wealth and resources of God's green earth among the white ruling class is deepening the class contradictions of the world. The very survival of the whole planet is at stake.

A transition in the structure of the U.S. Empire's international social system is manifesting because of the sharp new wave of resistance forming among the oppressed black, brown, yellow, and red laboring peoples globally. Also, fierce new competition from the bourgeoisies of the oppressed countries of color is forcing the empire to attempt to regain its tight grip on the world's people.

History shows us that as fascism and reaction strengthen the fight for socialism and progress strengthens also. Currently all across the world socialism is gaining popularity among the oppressed.

From anti-imperialist Cuba to the Bolivarian revolutionary process unfolding in Venezuela to the Maoist people's wars in Turkey, Peru, the Philippines, Nepal and India to the developing class struggles throughout Africa and the new struggles of the Black working class in the belly of the beast itself, socialism is once again emerging as the alternative offering freedom, justice, and equality for the international working class and the world's people.

Socialism and the Historical Experience of the Black World

Our Party has never been dogmatic about theory nor practice, nor have we taken history lightly.

From the year 1996 when our great Party was founded by the US-based young Black, Brown, Red and Yellow proletarian class, upon the firm basis of the creative development and application of the revolutionary content of Marxism, Leninism, and Maoism from the viewpoint of True Knowledge of Self to the concrete conditions of the black nation without borders, to the leap and breakthrough of the new, higher, superior revolutionary science of Polymathematics, the Poor Righteous Party of the Black Nation has consistently and sharply upheld the banner of revolutionary socialism and has taught such to Man, Woman and Child.

Inseparable from our prescription of socialism for the economic ills of the Black Man, Woman and Child is also our Party's principled defense of the victories, accomplishments, and lessons of 20th century socialism.

Indeed, there are many lessons to learn from the socialist experience of the 20th century. The bravery of the international working class creatively applying revolutionary the theories of Marxism as a guide in their fight for state power proved to be correct and there were many successes. The proletariat in China, Cuba, Russia, Albania, Vietnam, and North Korea achieved state power and were beacons of light for the poor revolutionary masses.

On the great mother continent, socialist policies were implemented in Nkrumah's Ghana, Nyerere 's Tanzania, Toure's Guinea, and in other places which all benefited the people of Africa and served as the highpoint of the all-African anti-colonialist revolutionary movement and achievement of real progress on the great continent.

The historical accomplishments of 20th century socialism are many, in short, we can list:

Provisionally liberated almost 1/3 of humanity from capitalism for a period; Revolutionized Society; Defeated 20th century European Fascism; Extended literacy to billions; Extended Health Care to billions; Elimination of poverty for billions; Promotion of Values of Education, Collectivism and Equality ; Promoted Revolutionary Unity of peoples against oppression; Assisted in the defeat of 20th century European colonialism

It is our Party's considered view, a Polymathematic view, that the victories, accomplishments and lessons of 20th century Revolutionary Socialism are but a few precious pages in the rich Historical Experience of the Black World. It is this glorious legacy that we celebrate and defend.

Socialism and the Black Revolution

A close observation of history will show that as the struggles for socialism intensified, it was the darker population of the world who successfully carried the socialist banner for revolution.

Malcolm X described this resistance as the "Black Revolution." He saw that the main social force genuinely rebelling against capitalism and white imperialism were the world's super-exploited black, brown, red, and yellow peoples. The reason for this is a question of race as much as it is class.

Due to this revolutionary social practice new contributions to revolutionary thought emerged. Mao, Kwame Nkrumah, Ho Chi Minh, Kim Il-sung, Che Guevara, and others gave important and qualitative insights to different aspects of revolution that were studied and applied in various social movements.

At the same time the socialist tradition of Black people, rooted in both the economic conditions of their existence and egalitarian culture and spirit retained from Africa began expressing itself as a response to 350 years of white supremacist capitalist exploitation.

In the 20th century revolutionary class-conscious Black socialists in the U.S made major contributions in the struggle for socialism. At the beginning of the century, the African Blood Brotherhood, the first Leninist formation in the U.S. was an underground communist organization of independent black proletarians predominately in the U.S. Black Belt South active in armed self defense of against white oppressor nation lynching and terror.

During this period, Cyril Briggs, Harry Haywood, Paul Roberson, W.E.B. Dubois, Queen Mother Moore, William Patterson, James Boggs, and many others stood up against capitalist oppression of Africans in the U.S.

But it wasn't until 1966 with the emergence of the revolutionary Black Panther Party founded and led by the great Dr. Huey P. Newton that the super-exploited Black working class in the U.S. and indeed the world, begin to act as a independent class for itself, becoming fully self-conscious of their revolutionary vanguard role in the national and international struggle for socialism. Prior to this period the great black nation proletariat had no communist party of their own to lead the struggle for national independence and socialism.

During this period the whole world of oppressed people was in rebellion with motives to rid the globe of white supremacist capitalism and build new socialist civilizations that would carry humanity forward.

Unfortunately, a complex interplay between the imperialist encirclement from the U.S. Empire, problems of socialist construction, and internal ideological crisis led to capitalist restoration and the defeat of the socialist camp in the 20th century.

Lessons are always drawn from defeat, but only new insights can be proven in the fight for a new world. What is Socialism? And what is its relevance in the 21st Century? What lessons can we learn from 20th century socialism? How can socialism be applied in today's conditions in the Black community?

2007 Open House

Join us in North Philadelphia on Saturday February 10th, 2007 beginning at 1pm for a peace day of educational presentations and a black revolutionary panel discussion on the theme of this year's PU Open House "21st Century Socialism and the Black Revolution."

The PU Open House will be an opportunity to build and reconnect with old and young activists and scholars of the people's movement of the past and of today.

Topics to be discussed will focus on theory, education, the Black family, health, international relations, revolutionary culture and their relationship to the fight for socialism in the Black community.

Polymathematic University is a new independent center for revolutionary education led by the Poor Righteous Party of the Black Nation.

PU's mission is to introduce revolutionary ideas and concepts to the masses and stimulate and facilitate the promotion of the black revolutionary discourse in the 21st century.

The event is free to the public and again, all revolutionary and progressive people of color are welcomed to come express themselves on this important topic.

Hope to see you at our Open House for a historic day of dialogue on the relevance of socialism as the alternative for the future advancement of humanity. Peace.
