| Former child soldier speaks in Philly next Wed! ![]() Report from the Front Lines of the African Liberation Struggle around the world featuring former child soldier, award-winning journalist Chernoh Alpha M. Bah Director of the Africanist Movement of Sierra Leone and West Africa Speaking on > Current struggles in Guinea, Sierra Leone and throughout the African world > The true story of Blood Diamonds > Unity of all African People from Oakland to Philly; St. Pete to Sierra Leone Don't miss the event in Philly! Wednesday, June 6th, 7pm FIRST UNITARIAN CHURCH 2125 Chestnut St., Center City, Phila. More info: 215-387-0919 or inpdum_phila@yahoo.com or visit www.BurningSpearUhuru.com :: Chernoh Alpha M. Bah is back in the U.S. for the first time since his successful 2006 U.S. and UK tour. This year's tour kicked off with Chernoh speaking at African Liberation Day, May 26th in Washington, DC. He will speak to audiences in other U.S. cities this week. At the age of 12, Chernoh Alpha M. Bah fought in the civil war in Sierra Leone, going on to become an award winning journalist. He is now leader of the Africanist Movement, whose 70,000 members in Sierra Leone, Guinea-Conakry, Nigeria, Cameroon, and Liberia seek to regain African indigenous control over African mineral and agricultural resources. Tensions are mounting in Sierra Leone with the approaching elections. While the ruling Sierra Leone People's Party grants lucrative mining concessions to foreign companies to finance their electoral campaigns, the average life span of the population remains at 37 years and most citizens have no electricity or clean water. Some analysts predict another war will break out over control of the diamond-rich region. Bah will report on the roles of foreign governments and corporations in the conflict and will present his organization's program for the nationalization of mining industries and democratization of the country. ********************************************** The Uhuru Movement is raising resources for a laptop to send back with Chernoh for his work with the Africanist Movement in West Africa. $1,000 is needed this week!
