I'm fuming right now because my mother-in-law just emailed us and told us that she is on her way to a Dr. Kwesi lecture (it started at 4). I jumped up and down like a disappointed child on his birthday. I put her up on Ashra Kwesi and she couldn't even give a brotha advance notice.

On such short notice it was too late. Plus, she didn't say where. She just ended her email with "I'm on my way to a Dr. Kwesi lecture". I looked it up and couldn't find it.

Nikki Giovanni was at Florida A&M University two days ago, and no one told me either....and I just read one of her poetry books at the library the other day.

I had read much of her stuff because of school, but not in the same thinking frame I have now, so it was really good to actually understand where the sistah was coming from.

I wanted to hear her speak.
