Simple Days

I hate this mess
I've watched my dreams go by with the days
Life role through the nights
Building a wall between emotion and focus
Doing what I've done to get to the same place I've started
Sat back and watch pictures on the walls age
Felt my face grow old and hair gray
While I stood in the sunlight sweating for change
I listened to old people pray for the return of simple days
But realized that is what I wanted to get away from
I broke my back off in a foreign snatch
All for the shake of a moment to forget
Smoked my pay checks quicker than I could transfer them to savings
Mourned the loss of my youth each unfulfilled year
Crapped out tears when I didn't want to
Had sex with frustration because she was my main company
Beat away opportunity thinking it was a trap
Something I learned from what I've lived
Is that nothing is simple while you are alive
No matter how much I hate this I'm not willing to die now
I am too disposed to life
Too strung out of existences
And dying is way to easy
I'm use to the struggle
Addicted to 24/7 aroused by 365
While this just gets harder and fact stays ugly
I will continue to prefer my life to those simple days
