How to swim

How to swim

She’s gonna teach me how to swim
Giving me a new way to move through the world
Fully clothed or butt naked I should be able to live
She’s gonna teach me how to swim
Take a few breaths push me on in
Sink like a rock and come up to fast and bet the bends
Swallow too much water gasp for air
Rub more salt in my eyes
Blink real hard till I can almost see again
Keep struggling to survive as the current rushes in
Get washed away with the mainstream
I then crash against some rocks because of the rapids
Pull myself up on a bank and waves knock me off again
She’s gonna teach me how to swim
I run into a glacier freeze up
But as the warm current mixes with the cold
I get tossed up in a hurricane and slam down in the NEW WORLD
With an OLD ORDER and get no help for 3 days
She’s gonna teach me how to swim
I wake up to a tsunami with FEMA on its way
But they meet me at the shore with a coffin
So I run to the desert and they meet me with bombs over Bagdad
Fearing for my life like others
That were supposed to be jealous of our freedom
But I never saw free though never was I behind bars
Still I couldn’t feed myself without a dollar
So she’s gonna teach me how to swim
Teach me how to live off the grid
Go by my name and detach from a Social Security Number
Run from the spot light as I stake my claim to fame
I jump back into the water again
Still unprepared expecting little of tomorrow
Because today LIFE said
She’s gonna teach me how to swim
