Your poem is on point! Although I have no children..I think home-schooling is the best way to educate young minds. Conscious parents can teach their children about our history that private & public schools are fearful to do.

BlackQueen, greetings! My only regret these days is that I didn't overstand enough about the rewards of home schooling sooner. I did have a friend some years ago who removed her son from public school after he started first grade. The courageousness of the act itself frightened me back then though. I knew she was doing the right thing but I just wasn't strong enough, wise enough, believing enough, in the system back then to step up to the plate, so I allowed my 2 children to endure the public and then private schools only to end up realizing I could have saved myself and them a lot of heartaches, foolishness and precious time-wasting because, the end result was the same, not much learned. But these days things are different and have been for about 3 years now. I've sensed that many African parents are sick and tired of the school system and want other alternatives but just don't know what to do or how to go about home schooling. Hopefully soon the word will get around that with a little courage, motivation and all the love for their children, they can do it and do it all the way until they graduate from school. As a matter-of-fact, some of them will find much joy in it because it will be a learning experience all over again for them too! I know it has been that for me. Sherose |

My children attend CLASS (Christian Liberty Academy) but there are many other Home Schools, on line or in your own hometown. With CLASS, you have the option of doing the Home Schooling yourself or allowing the CLASS Academy to DO it for YOU. I chose to let CLASS do it for me because of my work schedule. I started out doing it myself but my work schedule changed. But if you're home during the day, YOU can DO it yourself and they SEND you all the materials needed on a weekly basis and this way cost you less money. I believe it's somewhere around 250.00 to 300.00 per month to do it yourself. To allow THEM to do it is around 300.00 to 400.00 per month, per child. You will NEED a computer I have noticed more and more African Americans are now getting into Homeschooling and I'm really thrilled about it. There are many homeschools online. Choose the one that fits best for you and your child. You know what it is you desire for your child or children. I've had it with Public Schools. My 2 have been homeschooled for 4 years now and I love it. I like it BOTH ways, I like to be able to put my INPUT in the raising of my children too. Sherose of the Roses |

I am enrolling my children in homeschooling this fall..I will partner with an online academy . I first though about homeschooling a few years ago but quickly got discouraged by people closest to me saying my children will be unsociable and alot of other bull crap that had me all messed up in the head, scared, questioning will my children be at a disadvantage...but this last school year I could not take another minute of the public system....I removed them two months before the year had ended. I will fight and those people, well they can kiss....much love...... |

I'm home schooled, honestly it did calm me down. But I do miss the classroom feel, I'm hoping to attend a regular school next year.
