Rulers, administrators, regulators and hounds
Despots, extortionists, the deviant devils
And all the golden gods they have made
Constant predators feasting off humanity
Silver tongue con-artists, how they loath the truth
An old ill so often staved off, but never eradicated
Tyrants, outnumbered, but well protected for now

Ritualists, blind faith, sugar teats for the obedient serfs
Terrorized more than pacified, ever prodded along
Souls desperately put up for acceptable collateral
Spending a lifetime in hock for little piece of heaven
A conditional and inglorious pre-approved afterlife
Forgetting they were given a paradise here on earth
Oblivious to who is stealing that paradise away

Retreatists, withdrawn from the competitive struggle
Mad poets, insane fakirs and stumbling gutter drunks
Aberrant outlooks, mysterious hermits and nocturnal junkies
Rather than shamelessly cope, they have abandoned society
They have created their own unconventionally distant worlds
Last night’s fantastic fix, and today’s bugging blues
No fads, fashions, or time for the deceitful daily news

Revolutionists, rebellions, do they bring about change?
How many times have they toppled the golden gods ?
Always challenging illegitimacy and expressing dissent
Ever becoming just what they never finish fighting against
Born and won through the ages, it seems they always go bad
Will we will win this time and finally rise above ?
The many rebel camps and thousands of campfires

One finger alone cannot deliver a slap. Yet when the fingers come together, they form the hand that can.

Maybe more of the things hoped, fought, died, and lived for will come about when more of us of this common struggle come together. For so long, we have been divided. Our stories are not necessarily identical, yet they are different chapters of the same book and we definitely have more commonalities than differences. In my humble opinion, the sooner we realize these things, the sooner we will be on our way to becoming the change that we want to see.
