Free the Mind! One African Union!
At 12:36am Stan Tookie Williams was pronouced dead by prison officials in San Quentin State prison. He was convicted of four murders in 1979 and was co -fouder of the Crips organization along with Raymond Washington. He was nominated for the Nobel Prize and was widely lauded for his anti- gang, anti - drug message. Stan Tookie Williams was a socialist reformer who transformed his violent past through the process of self -discovery and writing. He wrote 9 published books for children and intitiated peace protocols to broker gang truces in Los Angeles, all of this while on Death Row! Big Tookie always maintained his innoncence for the crimes he was convicted of. Only Allah knows what role he played in the alleged incidents. The man may have been innocent. Governor Arnold"Terminator"Schwarzenegger said to the effect "no apology, no atonement, no clemency".
Mr Williams case was and is symbolic of the anti - death penalty movement which is growing. As a muslim who believes in the Shariah, one must overstand the reality that the death penalty does not work in a non -muslim society. The prison industrial complex is a form of modern day slavery. We live in a society were alcohol is sold by many hypocritical muslims who come here from other lands to sell unlawful (haram) products in the African community. African men compose 7 percent of the U.S. population and 40 percent of the U.S. prison population. The death Penalty in this nation is a racist, genocidal policy that is used to punish the so called bad negros, ignorant browns and poor whites.
The legacy of Stan Tookie Williams is crucial to study, for to ignore his positive contributions and message would be to say his life had no meaning or is worthless. The truth is that Mr. Williams work does save lives and has influenced young people to alternatives to a self-defeating life of crime. His redemption was genuine and his legacy will continue to inspire others to journey on the road to self discovery and healing.
Brothers like poet journalist,Kalima Aswad, who spent time on Death Row and is now doing a life sentence and abolitionist

Shujaa Graham who was on Death Row, had his case overturnde and is now free are two living examples of servants to the
community who have indeed redeemed their lives and continue to spread a message of hope and the need for real change in a morally bankrupt prison industrial complex.
Stan Tookie Williams is a inspiration to this brother and millions of others to renounce the life style of balck on black violence and to build up and burn down the "hood". My prayer is that one day soon the criminal organization he founded will no longer serve as a agent of genocide for the oppressors but would instead be a genuine concious revolution in progress. This poet renounces black on black violence and the so called drug game. the solution is our faith in action and unity as a people. Rest in Peace to lil Lawerence Adams, a victim of gang violence and Stan Tookie williams, a victim of the genocidal legacy of the criminal injustice system in Amerikkka. Understanding the root cause of balck self hatred is to understand the the legacy of slavery in the western hemeisphere, they are connected. What is a black life worth?
A black life is priceless if you only knew. May the positive contributions of the African warrior, Stan Tookie Williams live on! Strategy of non violence is not silence! Moratorium on the Death Penalty!
As - Salaam Alaikum
